Ok so I'm sure there's already been a thread but fuck it.
I've just discovered these guys and they've quickly become my favorite band. They're just so fucking wacky. If anyone would like to share some of their favorite albums by these guys so I can look em up and get em I'd greatly appreciate it. I've already got the Commercial Album and I'm planning on getting Meet the Residents but only when I can find it with the original beatles parody cover.
TL;DR: what do you think of the eyballed ones?

Meet the Residents is great

my fave currently is the Third Reich n Roll, though Duck Stab/Buster & Glen is a close second

I thought Eskimo was pretty cool, and the concept of the Commercial Album is nothing short of brilliant

Duck Stab seems to really be a fan favorite, and I fucking love its cover. I need to check that shit out

yeah the residents are amazing. i should listen to them more though.

jon (coal clock) and i had this conversation going back and forth with someone from the residents camp who called himself bunny and he claimed he lost 'harvey' and stuff and was really scared about being on tour. HE SROT OF SPOKEE LIKE THISZ and stuff so yeah i dunno if it was any of them but it was still hilarious.

man i love all the myth and mystery surrounding them. yeah. also their cover of satisfaction on third reich 'n' roll is amazing.
hej.

okkkkkkkk,k

YEAH MAN THEY ARE SO "WACKY"

also I will definitely say I'm not sure if they where as good once snake fingers died, but still alright.

The main problem is their shit is completely purposeless now, when they were first around their music was at least innovative, but now they just ride their fame and fanbase trying to get as much out of it. I'm not saying they're not still being on the avantgarde side of music, but it's just dead avantgarde and not really as pushing as it was when they were first around.

imo they've actually put out some good stuff surrounding bunny boy, they had a really long video series about the concept of the album that i'm pretty fond of, as for the music i can't say i'm not too big on it as compared to their other albums (my favorites would have to be duck stab the commercial album freak show and gingerbread man) but i get what you're saying

either way, rip snakefinger

yeah, for the most part, they based their sounds on the 50s and 60s and never really got around to the 70s and 80s, not to mention 90s (though I never heard of anything past the Mole/Chub albums, so maybe that's not the case anymore)

AMPEEEM

Meet the Residents is my favorite, but Eskimo, The Commercial Album and God In Three Parts are essentials.

SixShooterClock

It's just fucking pathetic there are so many better bands that came out of San Francisco the same time people should listen to more Bay Area outsider noise experimental shit from 70's 80's it's so good.

Also New York and LA outsider/noise has some very good pop destruction the rips apart any musical innovation the residents have had.

Residents have fun costumes.

ChimeClock

10cc!

though their premise is a bit different than most other anti-pop bands

mauserclock

i hate the residents dont say anything i swear i fuckin
