Your critique on my site would be greatly appreciated and your pockets lined with CCs.

See also.

It needs to be tip-top by Tuesday, ready for the new domain (incdesign.eu). I was thinking maybe a news box in there somewhere as well. Thanks CC. And God damn lazy Sundays rule.

Nice coding... With that said I'd make a few tweaks to the design.

I think the AI black arrows and circles are kind of ill-fitting with the rest of the design. They're both grunge looks but the arrows almost look too clean and pseudo-gangsta white snowboarder type of graphics and I think it would look better without them. You have a nice sort of propoganda/political farse look going on, maybe busy up the area left by the arrows with some power-fists like a crowd in a front row, or some war-planes flying overhead. Also I might shift the sunburst a little lower so it's bursting behind the main figure as opposed to just the center of the page. We use those a shitload at my agency we usually center them behind the thing we're advertising.

Really that's about all I'd say for this site. If you ever do a future rebuild I'd recommend going up to a size like 1024x768, as that's pretty common for this day and age. But obviously I don't suggest doing that for this as it'd mean you change everythang.

Also I like lightbox waaay more than that tilt viewer thing, but I understand that's your thumbnail pane as well as your viewer, and I'm sure a lot of people like it. I just think it's technology over function. But yeah, cool ideas mang.

INoodleClock

Thanks FU. Yeah everyone really digs that TiltViwer which is why it's still there.. this looks alot better though imo:

Better?

As for the layout ideas, I'll have a bash in the week as getting cards printed. The sunburst is gonna be the hardest as it's set over quite a few layers. If any CC members want linking up and your site isn't complete wank I'll put you in the links.. hurry up and get back online ZL!

In my experience, at an interview they tend not to focus on looking at your portfolio. Usually that's done before the interview. Doesn't hurt to have everything in good working order just in case, though.

Still, prepare for how you will present yourself as a person and come across as a relatable and knowledgeable professional who deserves the job more than making the portfolio look perfect.

As for the site itself, I would change the color of the CV link so it sticks out more and not blend so much in the background, try to integrate the gallery with the rest of your site (you're already using Flash for your site, so it shouldn't have to load a pop up webpage to display a simple gallery). In general, as long as they're on your site you should never launch a new window; that screams of a lack of professionalism, and draws people away from the site.

Also, if you want to be treated as a professional, the email is important (i learned this the hard way; i got several negative comments from clients by having a non-standard email). that standard is: firstname.lastname@not-free-email-site.com. No 'inoodleclock'. Doesn't matter if that's your personal mail, set up something with your name at gmail or something and have it forward to your personal mail if you need to (don't respond from your personal mail, just use the forwarding for notification). This link has a good guide for choosing a professional email: http://www.daniweb.com/news/story218079.html#

Since this is a web design job you're going for, you probably shouldn't have made your site entirely in Flash, especially considering how static it is.

Most of this can't be reasonably changed by Tuesday; this is just general advice going forward.

To be fair, you don't have anything. Clocks are just machines that tick.

I don't like the white glow in the beginning, links page is kinda ugly, I really like the contact page, the cuts in the about page don't look that great, but the CV link is pretty cool. I don't understand why all the artwork links open up in separate pages, and some are in tilt viewer and some are not. I would try to get some consistency and have it open in the same page and have a back button or something. The TV guy is pretty cool.

INoodleClock

Sorry about the inconsistency on the gallery atm, going on what you guys have said I'm changing over from TV to Lightbox.

Revised links page, currently improving - http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/302/linkstemplatenewcopy.png

Sage, you've given me alot to think over. The email thing has been bugging me for ages, I'll definately setup a forwarding to get something more suitable for employers/clients.

It's a pain Flash opens a new window for links, didn't they disable you being able to keep it same frame last year, even with the appropriate coding? The problem with putting the pictures in Flash is load time, which is why they were put seperate in the first place, also being simple thumbs they're easier to change and add to.

Another thing, the reason I went with a Flash site is because pretty much everything in the portfolio is CSS/HTML with Java and very little if any Flash.

INoodleClock

Box with updates & news on the front page. Y/N?

WobbuffetClock

I generally like the grungy look of the whole site, but the circles on the home page are all weird and jagged-looking, and I find that unsettling.
flash rules everything around me, f.r.e.a.m.??? get the fivens, portal portal spam, y\'all

F U Clock

Oh shit, I didn't even realize that was Flash.

Yeah, PS resized those really fucking stupidly.. I'll change it.

'View website archive' - makes me think the link is for older versions of this existing website, not a list of websites you've designed in the past. If I were some random person checking the site I'd probably never click that link.

Still don't like how it pops up a new page for pictures. You really should try to integrate those into the existing flash file, so it never launches a new page. There is plenty of source code for dynamic flash galleries online, so it shouldn't be too difficult.
