Quote from: ButtplugClock;1806031Whenever they say shit like that about a shooter all it really means is that there will be stuff you will shoot that blows up.

We have had that since the toxic barrels in Doom. Why are they STILL trying to tell us it's new and exciting?
Well...
Duke Nukem 3D had a really interactive environment. Two easy examples would be the pool table in level 1-2, or how you can break any toilet or water hydrant in the game and drink the fountaining water to regain health.

At PAX last year, the Duke Forever demo started by having you control Duke's pissing into a urinal. I also saw footage of someone running around the bathroom and just playing with stuff. A few minutes later they were in a lobby drawing dicks on a whiteboard.
So it goes a little deeper than shooting exploding barrels.

yeah.

if duke nukem 3d got one thing absolutely right it was interactivity. the game was prepared for you to screw around in it in a way that few others have bothered to match. I mean, you can play pool in grand theft auto, too, but they drew attention to it in a way duke never did. duke3d encouraged exploration by fostering curiosity, which it did by rewarding screwing around. it sticks with you in a way that background interactivity in other games doesn't.

if forever lives up to that legacy, it'll be something.

Duke Nukem Forever is set to show on the Feb. 10th episode of GT-TV.

Cool-hand Duke finally returns, and we celebrate his triumphant arrival with an early look at Duke Nukem Forever.

and Geoff Keighley said this on twitter;
QuoteOn the next GTTV we'll be premiering real gameplay from Duke Nukem Forever! More details next week.

So that's cool.

Pictures from the Las Vegas event are up on the Duke Nukem facebook page!

Here we have an extremely teasing blogpost from 2K which has me just DYING inside.
http://www.2kgames.com/blog/coming-to-you-live-from-the-duke-nukem-forever-first-look-event
QuoteLast night, we blogged about set up for today's huge Duke Nukem  Forever event in Las Vegas - and now, we're updating you live as  journalists from around the globe get their hands on a sizable chunk of  the game for the first time ever.
What are they playing, you ask? The first six levels of DNF, in their entirety, of course.
The day is totally Duke - this is his city, after all. The gallery  above shows some of the key moments so far in the day: Duke's stretch  limos that carried the journalists to Titty City, as well as numerous  shots of the club itself. From top to bottom, this is a place Duke would  be proud to call his own. (We've even got his girlfriends here today!)
While we won't be giving you in depth details of what the press is  playing today, we will be able to answer some questions on our twitter  accounts, so follow www.twitter.com/2kgames and www.twitter.com/gearboxsoftware  for more info and inpromptu photos throughout the day. We'll also be  tweeting into the evening at the DNF party as we hang out with some of  the lucky First Access Club winners who the night's VIPs.
And for those of you vying to get your hands on first look news, you  won't have to wait long - articles will begin to roll in this Wednesday,  and you'll be treated to new video footage on Friday. We'll be posting  those articles as we find them a number of places, including the 2K Forums, Gearbox Forums, and the official Duke Nukem Facebook page - so keep your eyes on those URLs for the latest and greatest news.

"damn, those alien bastards are gonna pay for shooting up my ride!"

I'm not sure how long ago you last played it- but if it was at least a few years ago; try the demo for it on XBLA. If you end up liking it- the game's only 800 points, goes on sale frequently, and George Broussard has given out dozens of download codes on his twitter account.

Until the goddamn game is on my computer, I refuse to believe that Duke Pukem exists. At least I have waited. I waited for Team Fortress 2 right after TFC, took Valve 8 - 9 years to make it, it turned out OK.

"Like 1996ââ,¬â,,¢s Duke Nukem 3D before it, Duke Nukem Forever  is full of silly and pointless bits of interactivity, so I surveyed the  locker room, looking for all the different bits and pieces that could  be played with. Turning on taps and hand dryers, admiring my (err,  Dukeââ,¬â,,¢s) muscley frame in the mirror, flushing urinals and, inevitably,  finding a toilet with a giant, firm turd in it. Which I prompty grabbed  and began hurling around the room, leaving brown stains on the walls.
Why? Because the game let me do it. So, why not?"

It's a 15 hour game- the max time anyone has played yet is 90 minutes.
