I know it's true, I play random. Protoss is the easiest to play, Zerg is the hardest, and Terran has the most potential.

WiiClock

Protoss is very easy to play. Zerg is harder, but is still easier than Terran I think. The reason being, both races allow you to spend excess money very quickly. Protoss with warpgates and Zerg with banking up larvae.

I haven't been playing very much and my ability to play has gone to shit. I purposely lost a bunch of matches because I wanted to try and learn how to play Terran, and then after I lost a few matches, I realized Terran is shit and I never want to play it again.
HELLO EVERYONE.

Clocktopus

This game took me a whole day to install. I'll probably play around with it later today.

I haven't touched SC2 in ages. I'm kind of disappointed in it after the fact, though it has more to do with Blizzard as a company as well as battle.net 2.0.

I don't even like playing it to be honest. It's a lot more fun to watch now, than it is to play. I would much rather have LoL or SSF4:AE open than SC2.

Protoss has been doing terrible in tournaments. We seriously needed this.

A few extra zerg nerfs have been implemented in the 1.4 patch that's undergoing testing.

- Infestor's Neural Parasite no longer affects massive units.
- People testing the patch discovered that they 'fixed' baneling bombing by not allowing all the banelings in an overlord to be dropped into dense groups.

For comparison:

V 1.3 Baneling Dropping

v 1.4 Baneling Dropping

So they essentially killed two of my favorite Zerg moves that I've been practicing to get better at for a while now. Not being able to NP massive units makes the spell pretty much useless. Yeah you can still NP like a High Templar and be useful with it, but most of the time NP was used for massive units like Colossus, Thors, Archons, Motherships... That was pretty much the whole point of the spell. So when they announced that NP was getting this massive nerf I thought "well I suppose I can still go with a fungal growth + baneling bomb to deal with stuff like colossus balls and the like," but then oh wait now baneling bombing won't work for that either. Ugh. I understand the change to Baneling bombing, but the combination of that and completely killing NP really is too much.

I'm actually going to take a while and try out Protoss and Terran soon. Now that I have more practice under my belt and have watched a lot more stuff like pro streams and Day[9] daily videos, I'll probably be significantly better than I was before. I might end up switching my main to one of those, especially if this NP nerf doesn't get undone.

WiiClock

HAHA Thank god. I didn't know about that baneling bomb change, thanks Sobe.

I knew about the Neural change though, and I was happy as soon as I heard it. This pretty much confirms that I can go colossus every game again and never lose.

I am not happy about it, not just because I play Zerg but because one race being weakened waaay to much by a patch like this seems like it will result in that scenario. It will be less fun to play as Zerg now because those two tactics they destroyed were pretty much my two favorite things to do as Zerg. Also, they will be less fun to play against now because they will be less of a challenge to defeat. Baneling Bombing and NP weren't overpowered in the first place, I've seen them win games and I've seen both things countered effectively. NP in particular was a necessary spell for the Infestor which is a key Zerg unit.

WiiClock

Zerg was too strong. It went from Zerg not being able to trade 200/200 armies with other races to them being able to crush with neural + fungal + broodlords.

It was infuriating to play against.

Infestors were too strong. They're still good, just not as OP as they were. And they didn't even nerf the infested terran.

Zerg is too strong? I'm afraid I have to disagree there. Yeah Zerg were definitely doing well against Protoss recently, but Terran still has the best win rate by a wide margin in 1.3, when compared to Zerg and Protoss.

I like that Protoss got the buffs they did, and I like that hellions got nerfed, but they didn't just nerf Neural Parasite, they made it almost entirely useless compared to how it was before. The only two things I think of, off the top of my head, that NP would still be useful against are High Templars and Siege Tanks. Since Siege tanks are typically behind the front lines, being able to NP them isn't something you can rely on. Making something almost useless isn't balancing it, it's actually doing quite the opposite.

I can see that Fungal + Corruptors + something else could still work against something like a Colossus ball, but I don't know I still feel like if NP needed to be balanced it could have been done much better, without destroying it. I've been wanting to branch out and try Terran and Protoss to see if I'd be better with them by now anyway, and I guess these significant nerfs to Zerg are a good incentive to do that, at any rate.

EDIT: For example, what if to nerf NP, instead of just making it never work against massive units ever again, make NP immediately broken by EMP or Feedback. This would actually add an additional game play element in big battles, would give a way to fight back against NP effectively, and still make NP not useless since it can still work and at the very least would force some energy expenditure by the opponent's ghosts/high templars if they do break it.

As far as I'm concerned, Protoss is the only race that should be able to mind control like in SC:BW.

Where are you getting your race statistics?

Currently feedback does break NP, since it takes away all the energy of the infestor. Also, you can neural ghosts and emp your opponent, or grab HTs and feedback your enemies templar. I don't think it's completely useless, and I don't think you know how frustrating it is until you battle against it. It's one of those things where you engage a zerg army, and all of a sudden all of your colossus are his and your shit is getting destroyed. The best you can do is to try and feedback the infestors, if your HT can get in range without dying first. Or you can try and blink onto them, but then there goes all of your stalkers because they just got killed by whatever support units the zerg has.

Broodlord infestor was crazy strong. We can play tonight and I'll show you how ridiculous it is.

If anything needs nerfing now, it's ghosts. But I think it'll take Blizzard another patch until they realize this.

Nope. Blizz loves T too much. Remember when toss was bitching about ghosts vs HTs and then HTs got nerfed?

My mistake, the margin was much wider in July than it was in August, still you can see in the TvP and TvZ stats, Terran is still ahead. Protoss is really the race that has been too weak. Zerg really soared ahead of Protoss in ZvP but Zerg has actually never quite caught up to Terran, though they are not as far apart any more as I thought they were.

I wasn't aware that feedback acutally broke the NP mid-spell, as I don't really see that happen. My mistake, once again.

Yeah, I see what you're getting at. I can see now how nerfing NP was probably necessary, I guess we'll see how this nerf turns out in the overall balance of things. I'm hoping it wasn't too extreme.

QuoteBroodlord infestor was crazy strong. We can play tonight and I'll show you how ridiculous it is.
Well, I'm starting to practice Terran now, and since I haven't actually practiced Terran or Protoss pretty much ever, (I've only really focused on Zerg) I can guarantee you I'll be awful if we do play. I know the appropriate builds and such for Terran and Protoss but I'm still not used to using them yet. I probably won't have time to play tonight as I'll be playing with one of my other friends for a few hours, but I can probably play with you tomorrow if that's alright.

People actually use broodlords now?

EDIT: and now I realize it has been a year since I have played ladder. feels like yesterday
