EDIT: and now I realize it has been a year since I have played ladder. feels like yesterday

Oh yeah man, Broodlords can tear shit up.

If it has really been that long since you have been playing/watching, there are probably a good amount of strategies that have come around since you've been around that are pretty awesome.

Also, moving away from balance discussion, I thought I'd share one of my favorite PvZ videos here. Minigun (the Protoss player) just completely outplayed VPSuppy (Zerg.) VPSuppy is currently a Grandmaster League player. I found this clip from their match very entertaining to watch. It's only 3 and a half minutes long.

If you have more awesome clips or full matches like this, feel free to share!

You could try doing what LiquidTyler does and bind them with your Zealots on 1, so that they move up first. You shouldn't have a problem with them being in position if your zealots are in front like they should be.

edit: Also keep your units in a ball.

I'm going to make some videos right now where I talk over my play so you guys can see how bad I am.

Doing what Joey said seems to help a lot. Also, all you typically need to do with them these days is just split the opponent's army in half, making it so that only half of their army can fight back and can't escape, while the other half of the army is unable to assist the first half.

WiiClock

Okay I recorded two PvTs. One is short and the other is a longer game.

Quote from: WiiClock;1852693Okay here is Episode 1.

Just watched this a bit ago, thought I'd give my impressions before watching the second, while this is still fresh. Incoming wall of text, I hope it's worth a read though.

You seem to beat yourself up a lot about your play but there was nothing glaringly wrong with your build or things that you did. You pulled off a pretty crisp 1 Gate Core. Buildings were built in the correct order at the correct times, there's really nothing wrong here. Minor slip up with building the core but that was just because his scv denied the placement and you didn't notice for a second, not a big deal at all man. Good timing with the chronoboosting too, boost nexus at 11 and 14, boosting the core to get warpgates out, etc. The first stalker could have been gotten a little bit faster against a Terran, but that's just nitpicking. Even if you are rusty, you are by no means terrible.

You didn't seem familiar with the build he was doing. That's sort of an all purpose build, heavy on getting a strong economy fast but it can be used against any race. The problem is he made a few very bad decisions with his resources that ultimately made him lose pretty hard. The build he was using was the 1 Rax No Gas Fast Expand, done properly it should look like this.
10 Depot
12 Barracks + Scout
15 Orbital, make 1 Marine
16 Command Center at Natural
17 Depot
Barracks x2
Orbital Command
Refinery x2

This build can then transition into a Marine-Marauder-Medivac or something else pretty easily, depending on what your opponent is doing. Unfortunately for him, he chose to invest in Bunkers without having enough Marines in the first place and completely wasted money on a turret that he should have known he didn't need, but I guess when he scouted he didn't realize you were going 1 Gate Core. If he had been better at scouting, and had prevented you from getting better map control with that stalker on the tower, he would have known to get a reactor up on a Barracks before getting two tech labs on the other Barracks. Then he could have put his money into some more marines instead of two bunkers and turret, he would have had a better chance. He just seemed to have given up on scouting after the initial SCV, and pulled it back to the tower I guess, but keeping that SCV scouting your front would have been much better. You played a good game anyway so even if he did things right he probably would have had a hard time with that build. I tried four builds against my Protoss buddy today, and so far I like the 1 Rax No Gas Fast Expand more than I like 1 Rax Reaper Expand. Against Protoss specifically, 2 Rax Pressure and Tank Marine Banshee Push seem to work well. I need a lot more practice before I have any preferred builds though.

I'll watch the second game tomorrow afternoon, it's getting pretty late here.

EDIT: Edited because I worded some stuff pretty badly, I was rather tired when I posted this.

Minigun didn't GG, Bad manner.

Thanks for the analysis Sobe. I'm surprised you got all of that out of such a short game. But yeah, my execution with builds like that vs. Terran isn't always solid since I don't like to one base.

The second game is a lot better.

No problem, detailed analysis of my own games has been really helpful to me when trying to improve. I find that even the short games can tell quite a lot. That game told me that in that situation you pretty much handled it as good as it could have been handled. I will watch the second game tonight or tomorrow, I've been rather busy over the past few days.

Also, they changed the NP nerf.
Quote from: DaxxarriWe thank those of you who participated in the 1.4 PTR and appreciate your feedback regarding changes to the Infestor unit. In response to that feedback, we have chosen a different course of action regarding adjustment of Neural Parasite. Rather than preventing this ability from targeting Massive Units, the range of Neural Parasite will instead be reduced from 9 to 7. We believe that this change will make choices regarding positioning and unit composition more important when using the Infestor.

This change will not be reflected on the PTR, but we wanted to ensure that you were aware of the new changes before the StarCraft II Patch 1.4 is live.

This is good I think. It may not sound like that much of a nerf but it is going to force Infestors to get noticeably closer to use the ability, which will make the opponent's ability to take them out easier. They will be more in the fray to get to massive units surrounded by smaller units. Also, it seems that the Baneling drop nerf was sort of exaggerated, its only very specific, even, and cramped distribution of units in groups that will cause Banelings to be undroppable, in almost all cases Baneling drops will still work perfectly. Both major Zerg nerfs that I was concerned about aren't nearly as bad as they initially were, so I will probably continue to use Zerg as my main. I'm still going to try to learn Terran and Protoss, but Zerg will in all likelyhood continue to be my main.

buttplug

I found those videos entertaining, your commentary funny. "I live in a zoo and I hate it"

I think you might want to consider scouting extra bases with a worker or something. I just take one and shift click in all the expos from the minimap, it helps you find expos they might be trying to hide. At least if people still try to do this, I know they used to in SC1.

WiiClock

I like that NP change. Because Zerg will still try and steal my Colossus and -2 range, it'll be a hell of a lot easier to pick them off.

Also Buttplug, I should do that yeah. Thanks dood.
I had fun making those videos. I'll make some drunken ones this weekend, they might be funnier.
