Made for my character rigging class. A short rendered 3D animation that tells the fateful tale of a boy who discovers an ice cream truck in the middle of a grassy field in July...

I've had this happen to me. Except it wasn't ice cream.

Quote from: RibsClock;1896119I got a chuckle out of this. I like the ice cream truck model, it's just the right amount of cartoony. Which program did you use?
All Maya

Seems like the orange guy could have done with a few more polygons for such an up-close shot, particularly on the ears and eyes. The hat doesn't seem to sit right on his head.

The way his arm swings when it drops after he hands them the money seems off.

The shadows on the hills look...well, gradient rapey, especially when contrasted with the bitmap clouds.
Thanks and I agree. There was some compositing issues which is why the hills look a little high contrast.. I wasn't allowed to change the model geography, it was given to us. The point of this assignment was to show off our rigging of the model.

kill them for stealing your money

Quote from: RibsClock;1896126I don't have the cash to get it legit so I'm stuck with Wings 3D so far.

It's easy enough to get started with, though I'm having trouble with some basic concepts (like how to put a evenly spaced and sized circular holes in something)
If you are a student at university you can download the fully functional student version for free.

"cutting holes" in geometry is actually more tricky then you think in most software. There's typically tools to do it, but you won't want to because it makes for really messy geography.

The way I approach it (say making a door) is actually by creating a cylinder, then extruding the sides of the cylinder out to form the wall, and then deleting the front face of the cylinder to create the hole.

I then had to extrude the vertexes around the hole to dorm the "door frame"

Then I just moved around the outer vertexes of the wall to my liking.

So holes and "divits" are primarily made through extrusion. Actually most architectural modeling is done this way :O

Quote from: RibsClock;1896126That would drive my OCD nuts

Trust me I know. I have animation OCD bad enough you should have seen how many hours it took rendering this thing because I kept catching all the tiny mistakes no one would ever notice :P

ProqagandaClock

So like am I the only one studying nothing that has to do with Art?

bring more guns and more knives next time

PEANUTBUTTERCLOCK

Haha I love how the purple guy just glares at him as he drives off

F U Clock

Can't tell if the sound when the purple dude pulls the cone back was meant to be an ominous tone showing his contempt for Bobby or not, but I certainly took it that way and found it enjoyable.

Nice job!

You know you could simply use booleans, right?

[U2]nc50WFjyynQ[/U2]

AstronautClock

booleans often mess up textures though

Clocktopus

Poor guy just wanted some ice cream.

It can just lead to problems...

HeyArnoldAlarmClock

sir clock = britsh right?

what school you go to?

VCRClock

I have nothing valuable to contribute to this discussion but I liked the animation.

Especially the way you moved purple guy's left arm, and the glare.
<Marlin Clock> This thread seems proof positive that divisiveness at any level is usually bad for the Clock Crew.
<PhantomCatClock> are we talking about the same clock crew

WobbuffetClock

I usually have this weird aversion to 3D computer animation, and also I know little-to-nothing about the technical things of it, but this was funny and good.

I think he's American, and he goes to the Savannah College of Art and Design. I might apply for there too.
