This is why i never buy a store-built computer.

Self build all the way.

Quote from: I'M URCHIN_CLOCK HAHAHA;1579908i can assure you that for half the price of a mac you can build a PC with double the specs

First off, if you read my previous statement I'm only borrowing the money under the condition that I get the Mac that I'm purchasing. Secondly, I did a price check on the parts for the Mac I am getting (Mac Mini) and after purchasing a motherboard, the DDR3 RAM at 1066mhz, the 2.0 Dual Core (Yeah lol) and then getting it in that form factor, it cost approximately 100 dollars more than the Mini. Then, I factored in the cost for the multimedia and video publishing software equivalents to iMovie, GarageBand and iDVD. Once I was done the PC was more expensive and didn't have anything more than the Mini other than a slightly larger Hard Drive. To be honest if you're wanting a Mac, a Mini is the most reasonably priced system out there. And I've ran one on a 32" television, it's a very enjoyable experience.

Edit: never thought I'd see the day where I'm defending Macs, but here we are.

Kaijuclock

that's because you dont know where to go to get good hardware for cheap, sir.

Newegg.com, Tigerdirect.com, etc, I looked at each of them. I went to a few local stores as well and after rebates and promotions, the computer itself was cheaper, but after adding the software i wanted (which has been bundled with the Mini), it cost a few dollars more than the mini. And i have yet to find a ATX Micro case as small as the Mini's, and the ones that are close are pretty fugly.

HP Pavilion laptops: Don't get them. I've had mine for about half a year and every 1 out of 3 startups just gives me a black screen. I've also had numerous occasions where he would just stop working. Not to mention the stupid touch screen volume bar and once you touch it it'll go berserk till you shut it off

SnakeClock

My friend bought a Pavilion laptop a few months back, and he says it can't even run Team Fortress 2. How utterly lame.

If I needed a Windows laptop (which I don't), I'd get an Asus. Those are badass.

I don't know what this laptop can run, but I do know it doesn't take very long for it to overheat! I fixed that problem though. I used two wine corks to tilt it up so the heat can escape. And guess what! It works like a charm

Lol wut. I grabbed a Hp Netbook. Not going to be mine for long, but ykno, its not half bad. 16gb SSD, 1gb RAM (easy to upgrade), atom, etc. Its doing pretty good.

Yes, HP laptops are shitty overheating crap. Stop buying them, dummy. How is it that you bought another one when you already knew this in fucking 2009? Get a Dell or something.

d u m p y

i have an hp oh my god theyre so fucking terrible sfuuuuuuuuuuuuufdhussssssss

AlbinoClock

Quote from: multipass;1923832ive been using this hp laptop for 5 years now. the battery died once because i neglected to kill the charge often enough, but luckily my dad had a similar enough laptop that was still under warranty that i was able to get a free battery from them.

literally the only real issue with this laptop (besides shit that happens due to age) is that its always run v hot, and the fan is almost always running at high speed with the bottom of the case being super hot all the time. my next computer is going to have to have an unreal cooling system because i cant deal with it anymore.

When's the last time you opened it up and took the dust out of the exhaust port?

PopcornClock

Quote from: RomanClock;1570122Lol, should build your own.
