so you get people who are quite right about the earth being more or less spherical sputtering at the mouth over how stupid something is but being unable to explain why in scientific terms
so as somebody who's always been annoyed with his own tendency to take things at face value without actually understanding them, those knuckleheads encouraged me to break those habits
I did some research and application and learned how we know, absolutely, that the flat earthers are wrong. (there are all kinds of reasons.)

buuut that's the beauty of the body of science. dipshits like me can waste their time double checking stuff that everybody knows, the rest of the world can take it for granted because there are people double checking it and we can be fairly secure in the knowledge that they are, and science can move forward as a collaborative whole on a body of knowledge that's larger than any one human being could attain.

I joined them for like a week or something, i guess a few years ago, to make fun of corpse grinder for getting mad about people who're on both sites, but man that place is weird. I just felt completely incompatable with the entire atmosphere.
