Ive been gone for several years now, even though the clock crew wasn't as active as it was when I first joined in 07 when I departed in 2011 there were still 20 to 30, sometimes even 40 people online at a time no matter what time of day it was. Now I look at the online list and I am one of about four members logged onto the forum. How did it get to this. This was a fun entertaining place where I and several others spent hours of our days discussing things creating things and sharing at least a slight bond with one another. I thought that something that strong and a "brotherhood" or group with a close knit such as this one could never reach this state. Where did everyone go? How did it all happen? Is it possible to change this? I feel like I"m coming back from somewhere and seeing an old dying pet that was still running strong when I left. Its very depressing indeed. The clock crew has been around for over a decade so why now is it dissolving into nothing? Is it because newgrounds membership is dwindling? Is it because we lost focus? I would like to hope there might still be a chance to turn this around and this is coming from a member who never really took anything very seriously. I grew up here, I went through high school and even a little beyond with the clock crew we all put many hours of our lives into this place so why has everyone up and left it to die.

Just like real life. Shit happens people get older. I felt the same way when i came back 3 months ago. But ya just gotta accept the ones who are still here. Which is a great group of talented people. With the launch of sites like youtube and the introduction of smartphones and such, newgrounds isnt what it used to be. Id love if it could bounce back onto its feet. I myself have been trying and so has everyone else..but members arent coming back. Its sad and depressing because ive also been with the clock crew since i was 14. I do believe we can rise again..but it may take a while.

We've talked about ways of attracting new members, but the effort might be in vain if we don't figure out why our older members left. Personal business seems to be the top excuse, but maybe we need to reach out to our departed members and try to learn what went wrong and what we could do to repair it. I have been on hiatus as well for a few years, but I've found since coming back that the people who remain are very dedicated and cooperative. If we could organize some sort of reunion it might help to bring old members back and new members in.

You're out of your mind.

Darkcherry

We all have less free time and are tired from working all day, we can't spend hours every day making silly cartoons and talking about bullshit like we used to. Also, in the adult world you are less ostracised and generally have an easier time making friends in person as opposed to online, so we're not seeking it out here like we used to. Also if you're like me and you've lived with your girlfriend for the past six years, your time isn't just about what you want to do any more.

I still pop in relatively often for a few seconds just to see if anything's happened, but nothing ever does. I actually think it's pretty amazing that I can post a message like this on here this far down the line and anyone is still here to see it at all.

We'd all love for the CC to still be a thing, but it literally has almost nothing to offer at this point.

what a nice post. well my good friend, my point of view, is that probably, many people grow up, start becoming more occupied with work, life, and responsibilities of an adult, and in the end, they simply dont have the time/mood/energy for the cc anymore.

our only hope is to bring back old members that got chased away with the many bans/flame wars, and to recruit NEW people.
we should aim on the new, enthusiastic members of newgrounds/flashcamp/albinoblacksheep/insert flash animation site here .
the cc must not die.

great post, my friend.
this is a solid observation of the problem taht we are facing. the sudden fall of NG, and the reduction of the userbase due to the new generations using mainly smartphones and stuff, thus ignoring animation sites, like newgrounds.
yes, we can rise again, if we stick around, and keep the spirit alive, then we can do it.

thats a GREAT idea!

we should totally do that. and we could always do some events on local areas/cc meet-up.
(i assume that most of the american clocks can easily meet with eachother, if 5 out of 10 are in near states.)

maybe because people like you gave them a hard time, by being a jerk?
dunno.

Quote from: RadioTubeClock;1978996I still work on making flash but now that I'm older I have a bunch of other stuff competing for my time. Despite the general lack of activity, I think we have been doing a better job of seeing our collabs thru to completetion, I think the pass-the-flash format has certainly been helping.
that's true.
we might be few, but the spirit stays strong!
we should definitelly stick to the pass the flash format, and to do many flash works often, even if they are short movies...

We need to just accept that 2005-2007 was our absolute peak and we will never reach that height again.

As most have already said, people grow old and move on. I stick around, personally, because the CC has been apart of my life since I started using the internet regularly in the early 2000s. I joined in 03 for gods sake. I was maybe 13 at the time. I dont know if there will ever be a time when I stop at least checking the site for a new thread or two. I think the only thing that'll stop me is if the site is eventually killed off which very well could happen at some point.

It's inevitable that the CC will die I think. I think, more than likely, those of us who are still here will probably last a bit longer and keep in regular contact but who knows. Things change as time moves on. Regardless of what happens to the group, I cannot deny the impact that this community has had on my life. Even if I am hated by almost everyone in it, I still love the clock crew.

except BB10. Seriously stop posting for like a week please.

NintendrCkolc

We could always merge with the 500 dollar steak house guys. How active are they these days anyway? You think we're dead, try looking at their website.

Doesn't help that newgrounds now jams advertisements into movies and has a lower userbase than ever.

Honestly I feel like our badass animations are wasted on there. :(

AstronautClock

we should be getting millions of views on youtube but we need to learn from popular channels that make lots of money
