weezy, breezy, jeezy, jay-z and, yes, yeezy

I don't know how you could've left this part out

I can't find a pair of Converse that fit my gigantic feet, though. The retail stores don't come close and the online shop barely doesn't have it.

RobClock

i stopped wearing chucks a few years ago and now i'm considering getting a pair

how much are they paying you, slurpee

FLOUNDERMAN_CLOCK

they look nice but they're just terrible shoes. but I think the real question here is whether naruto would wear converse if they existed in his universe. would a closed toe shoe even be accepted in such a sandal dominated society?

(about chuck taylor shoes) : they are timeless, iconic, affordable, functional, and, if need be, nondescript, chameleonically blending into the aesthetic of every trend-setting and seminal musician from the ramones to paul mccartney to nirvana to miley cyrus, to weezy, breezy, jeezy, jay-z and, yes, yeezy

hmm... while i can agree with you that the converse/all-stars shoes are iconic and cool, (or the ''chuck taylor'' shoes if you prefer)

i HAVE to disagree on the ''famous people are wearing it'' topic.
namely, the  ramones are OK, but their music was good, not (just) their shoes, paul mccartney is OK, but he never wore good clothes/shoes, so he has a bad taste in clothes/shoes/fashion (and in abbey road his lack of shoes was alarming, therefore is is not a good shoe-role-model to be honest (lol)), as for nirvana, they are WAY too overrated, and grudge/curt cobain were not very good... (imho)
miley cyrus sucks and she's awful(she's aiming for that), as for kanye west, aka mr kardashian(srsly), aka ''yeezy'', while his music is good, his clothing line/shoes are not THAT good. for example:
just because steven fry is selling shoes, that doesnt make them perfect, comfortable or ''good''. (but they will always be more expensive ;) hehehe)
last but not least, im neutral about jay-z. his music is cool, but should i imitate his shoe tastes? no.

all in all, i believe that you should list more awesome/cool/fashion-savy celebrities/rockstars to prove your point about the ''converse/star shoes being cool''.
they are cool shoes, they just need better examples, like in....

plus every coolest boy in the world from ferris bueller to dr who to scott pilgrim, to lamewads like doug funny and the cast of the big bang theory, google it if you don't believe me. crash bandicoot, hank venture, dwight mccarthy, theodore logan, hiro hamada, tj detweiler, Mary Lou Retton pearson, lucas from mother 3, and marty mcmotherfuckingfly, it is the quintessential shoe, not inextricably associated with any given culture, class, sex, race, medium, or identity.

ah, i will agree with you there.
ferris bueller, doug, crash bandicoot, theodore logan, hiro hamada, marty mc fly (and many more) are quite awesome, and badass (fictional) characters. and i like that they always wore the ''converse-all stars'' shoes.
its a nice outfit item.
they are iconic shoes, as i have said previously above.

furthermore, the simple canvas design allows artists to apply striking graphic imagery for simple and identifiable self-expression. the entire concept of modifying your accessories for aesthetic and personal expression- graphic tees, smart phone skins- chuck taylors are the ground floor for that. my fuckin splatoon character wears chucks. they are "shoe" incarnate.
yes, they are highly customizable, and thats one of the hundred reasons as to why people like those shoes.
ofcourse, they are not as durable or as comfortable like the ''pro'' nike/reebok/adidas sports shoes, but they are quite unique, cool, and they represent a laid-back, smooth, iconic symbol of our modern era.
(whether we like it or not)

if slurpee is telling the truth and he wasnt pulling my leg, then i demand to see proof that he is indeed writing a book about the disintegration of modern society through the form of naruto characters, and i want to see it now, posthaste!
ok, see, A, you don't get to "demand" to see my copywrited material intellectual property and potential livelihood, and #2, "the death of postmodern thought" does not in any way relate or correlate to "the disintegration of modern society" so you are demanding to see something i never promised, which begs the questions of why i would share it if you're entitling yourself to it before even bothering to learn to understand what it is?

postmodern thought, the school of philosophy associated with post-structuralist thinking, and its associated trappings, like self-conscious irony and skepticism, are rapidly falling out of vogue in favor of metamodernism, post-irony, reconstructivism, and new sincerity. this change can be understood through anime. if you want to know how you can feel free to research and speculate, otherwise wait until i get published, and stop being a dick about my cool anime book

i have to say, if you took my previous post seriously, (and you probably did), then you shold notice that i was merely sarcastic to phantomcat's (also) sarcastic post.
i posted in a demanding, angry manner, for the sake of sarcasm.

if you cannot detect any sarcasm on my aformentioned ''demanding'' post, then you should check again your sarcasm sensors, they are possibly broken.(or malfuncional)

with that being said, i would:

1. i would like to read your book about ''the death of postmodern thought'', depicted as a naruto/anime book.
it certainly sounds interesting, to say the least.

2. i would like to say (again), that my saying about ''the disintegration of modern society'' was merely sarcastic, to make people laugh.
and while the subject of "the death of postmodern thought" does not relate to ''the disintegration of modern society'', you've gotta admit, that for a quick-post, written in a joking manner, it was quite close in terms of terminology/a faux-societal study-relation way...

both terms do speak about the ''modern society'', and while my ''disintegration of modern society'' title stems out of a pessimistic point of view often expressed by young people, while they should be (at least) slightly more hopeful, (and also this could possibly happen due to young people being in a constant state of apathy, which imho, is WORSE than being pessimistic, because at least a pessimistic person can fight his/her way out of soemthing, and they can try to change the world, even in a minuscule way, while a person of apathy will just sit and watch the world burn, and thats quite awful.)

you could also say that "the death of postmodern thought" is also (even distantly) related to the fact that, just because young people/the new generation are people of apathy, they unable to feel strong/good/unique emotions, and therefore, any expression, view, or creative way of any ''postmodern thought'' is doomed to extinction, due to all this apathy, stupidity and nihilism that prevails today.

3. as for the ''stop being a d*ck about it'' part, i should state (yet again), that i was sarcastic in that post.
relax

chuck taylors are the ugliest shoes ever. if i see a hot girl wearing them she instantly becomes un-hot.

those shoes belong in a museum or a 1950s mens high school gym class.

get that weak shit out of here
fuck you, fight me. they are timeless, iconic, affordable, functional, and, if need be, nondescript, chameleonically blending into the aesthetic of every trend-setting and seminal musician from the ramones to paul mccartney to nirvana to miley cyrus, to weezy, breezy, jeezy, jay-z and, yes, yeezy, plus every coolest boy in the world from ferris bueller to dr who to scott pilgrim, to lamewads like doug funny and the cast of the big bang theory, google it if you don't believe me. crash bandicoot, hank venture, dwight mccarthy, theodore logan, hiro hamada, tj detweiler, Mary Lou Retton pearson, lucas from mother 3, and marty mcmotherfuckingfly, it is the quintessential shoe, not inextricably associated with any given culture, class, sex, race, medium, or identity. furthermore the simple canvas design allows artists to apply striking graphic imagery

and the flat colors allow even non-artists to easily make rudimentary modular customizations
