<Marlin Clock> This thread seems proof positive that divisiveness at any level is usually bad for the Clock Crew.
<PhantomCatClock> are we talking about the same clock crew

RobClock

i read somewhere that there are mario toys in the mcdonalds happy meals now and im really having to fight myself going and getting a happy meal

PhantomCatClock

You can just go in and ask to buy one of each toy and it comes out to like $5-$10

I think it's like a dollar per toy? Maybe $1.50

They only ever have two different types of toys for whatever reason

When they had the Justice League Action toys I went in trying to get a superman and all they had was Hawkman and a green arrow "mask".

FLOUNDERMAN_CLOCK

don't they put apple slices in the happy meals now? what the hell is that?

BilliardBall10

super mario is a child's toy now?

wow.

it will be funny when link from zelda will become a mc-donald's (happy meal) toy.
or finn. or nathan drake. or crash bandicoot.

im sure that sonic is already a popular game for the ''happy meals'', given his/mario's immense popularity.

As opposed to what exactly, you nincompoop? An insanely popular, colorful and cartoonish, as-seen-on-children's-tv big fat character's super serious standardized tax forms for super serious adults? Instead they made the mind-boggling decision to make a fucking toy out of it? This is an invention on par with penicillin!

well, as opposed to a CARTOON character, from a cartoon (TV) show.
you see, back in my day, people used to watch shows from a large rectangular object, called the TV.
in it, people could see shows, musicals, comedies/dramas, and the children could watch a thing called ''cartoons''.
in those ''cartoons'', the protagonists were some fictional, nicely drawn characters that had some funny adventures, and the kids loved those shows/characters.
some famous examples are: mickey mouse, donald duck, tom+jerry, and in a more modern example, courage the dog, ed, edd 'n eddy, and dexter(from dexter's lab), to name a few.

so, judging by the popularity/awesomeness of those characters, it would be only natural to see them as popular toys in the mc donald's toy boxes/children's meals...

ofcourse the happy meals also had toys of comic-book characters and from other type of super-heroes/TV show characters/disney channel show characters, etc etc etc.

but to see (nowadays) a VIDEOGAME character being made into a children's toy?
i shouldnt be that surprised(if anything, this should've happened at least 15 years earlier), but i still am a bit surprised, because i didnt expect today's youth to actually get toys based on the ''videogame culture''...
whats next, link from the legend of zelda? ganondorf? rayman, perhaps? nathan drake from uncharted? spyro the dragon?
etc etc etc...

soon they might start making toy figures of the classes in TF2, or toys from the characters of overwatch...
its (slightly) odd.

with that being said, i think its worth saying that super mario actually DID have a live-action TV show (that lasted only for four months, on 1989), aaand a cartoon show on 1990, which (also) lasted for 4 months.
it seems it was very ''popular''.(lol)      (even tho it was quite funny+good imho)

oh well. at least it still survives on youtube poop videos, so its a good thing.

lastly, ''nincompoop'' is an excellent insult, and i will take it with a grain of salt.
thanks, grey klaak! :D

(super mario is)An insanely popular character, he's colorful and cartoonish, (as-seen-on-children's-tv!) he's a big fat character's super serious standardized tax forms for super serious adults? the surprise isnt why they created a toy figure of super mario, oh no:

the surprise is:

-why they didnt do this sooner(at least 15 years ago!), and

-why there is a sudden surge in creating toys of videogame characters? i know that nostalgia can be very profitable, but mang, they should have done this earlier, and its definitely weird seeing videogame characters replacing cartoon characters/comic book superheroes, in the toy stands.. (note: of macdonalds/fastfood displays, not of toy stores: toy stores already had videogame characters on their shelves eons ago...)
thats all. im just wondering about the pop-culture changes/about the new ''status quo'' in games+trends, that's all.
i guess that's how people feel when new trends blast through the pop-culture...

Mario is the best-selling video game franchise of all time. Whether or not McDonald's was finally able to jam it into one of their child-fatteners is neither here nor there. I wasn't there at the negotiations, but perhaps at the peak of Mario's popularity Ronald McDonald wasn't offering enough cash money (or v.v.), but now with the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Mario Kart 596 it's an easy way to generate some easy publicity for a fading icon. It's not about trends or realignments in the framework of pop-culture or any of that pseudo-scholarly horseshit, Nerdposter0. It's a simple yet effective marketing tool to get manchildren like RobClock and yourself interested in buying choking hazards and, hopefully, more shit in the near future.

BilliardBall10

easy there, tiger grey clock.

im no scholar, i merely expressed that this alteration in the pop-culture's status quo is wierd.
thats all.

also, i dont collect super mario stuff, whats this, i dont even

PS: why do you hate me so (much), oh sir grey of clock?!
as im writing this, tears are falling down on my keyboard, and they could've possibly stained my letter, (if i was writing a letter, that is).
those wounds wont heal so sad
