<PhantomCatClock> are we talking about the same clock crew

Preview image released of Margot Robbie starring in a live action Barbie movie. Perfect casting imo

You guys ever see The Witch? I'm excited to see Eggers new film The Northman, and it had me reflecting on how excellent his other movies are. I loved The Lighthouse but after watching The Witch I was blown away. What a masterful depiction of a time in history that feels so real. You get this insight into how small and hard the world of those people was, and the descent into madness eeks in with bone chilling suspense.

Maybe I'll come up with some more tangible things to say but this will do for a stoned first draft

Slurpee

loved the VVitch

yeah, very strong sense of place in that film

haven't seen to the lighthouse. been meaning to

PhantomCatClock

you are an nft

I watched The Lighthouse, and idk I don't think I got it? I didn't think the characters progression was particularly interesting they just kinda WOOOO GO CRAaAaAzY! lol

I did enjoy it tho, it doesn't have to be a dramatic epic masterpiece to be interesting and cool. The movie is beautiful looking and the ending was fucking gnarly. The grey dead rural hellscape reminded me alot of home so it was unintentionally comfy mao

Only whack it to Alexstrasza porn so that when someone asks you what you did all day you can say you came to life

I haven't seen that movie in twenty years but I can attest to the fact that Scrappy Dappy Doo was the villain of the first movie so that's likely the case

RobClock

I am now seated in the theatre for The Northman will update with impressions afterward

RobClock

Home. So it had the pacing typical to an Eggers film but where Witch and Lighthouse are anchored in a single place and breathe horror atmosphere into it, The Northman is not a horror film and more akin to action or adventure. Mythic spirituality is presented very matter of factly, with pagan rituals and psychedelic experiences peppered throughout. The most striking piece of visual homage was at the end eliciting Arthurian legend of all things.

If I was in high school still I'd probably think it was one of the most metal things I've ever seen and love it- as is, it's Eggers weakest but overall an above average joint

RobClock

I also foresaw the twist ages prior to its 'reveal' so that was disappointing

PhantomCatClock

the real twist was the northmans we met along the way

lol as much as I love that games visual style and sound and story, I just never liked the gameplay. Compared to it's stealth contemporaries, like Deus Ex, I think it was way behind mechanically, and it feels very clunky.
