I drink a lot of lipton tea and there's almost a gradient of quality that you can sense as you go through the boxes of identical shitty little tea bags. one day the tea will suddenly have an unpleasant slightly fishy smell, and it'll get stronger then weaker then disappear as you go through the box. sometimes it will last more than one box. the flipside of that is sometimes the tea will be unexpectedly good, like yorkshire-brand quality black tea, which is pretty great for a nickel
the current thing with the tea in my home is they did a bad job stapling the little pieces of paper to the little strings, so they fall off really easily. this slight manufacturer defect lasted through not just different little boxes of the 4 little sets of 25 bags that they put in the big boxes of 4 of them for a total of 100, but into another separate box of 100. this has happened before so I know they're not just shitty at stapling now, which means this is a defect that just happens sometimes, and they fix it, but all of the shitty compromised tea bags that they produced before fixing it, they're just like "ah, fuck it, ship 'em, who gives a shit" and I kind of have to admire the chutzpah. they know they're the panda express of tea. people don't go to lipton for a high bar of quality, we go to them for a completely mediocre bar of quality, and some shitty staplejobs or a dead fish somehow getting mixed in will neither help nor hinder that image, it's just roundabout what you would expect from lipton, your reliable, low-expectation tea

after a couple of years of experience, I discovered that one of the consumables I use at work, which appears superficially to be a consistent ultra-manufactured product, is in fact subject to occasional variations in quality

so when I tear open the first of a half-dozen boxes of this stuff that have just arrived, start using it, and discover it's "off" and I'm gonna have to compensate for it, I think "man the rest of these boxes were probably made in the same shift by the same person asleep on the job. maybe I'm dumb for buying so many boxes at the same time from the same place"

then a few weeks later I do it again

it's cool that the pacific ocean has the "ring of fire" (bunch of volcanoes all around the rim") and the atlantic has the icebergs what kilt the totanic and also greenland. I mean the pacific probably has ice too and the atlantic has large warm areas and volcanoes like iceland but you could ignore that and generalize them as the fire ocean and the butt ocean. I mean ice ocean

PhantomCatClock

please. ice ocean was my father. call me sir ice ocean.

i don't know anything about anime studio but i do know i'm always something with an interface like flash's and this is the closest i've seen in many moons

if you take my word for it you'll be disappointed--obviously 99% of it is wildly and offensively different--but watch that video trailer when you click the actual moho12 thumbnail and tell me you didn't go "ooh" twice

me in the ufc octagon: wow, you're going to punch and grapple me? LMFAO. trying to win a fight? very cool dude. that's something I would have done in like middle school. grow up

why would you even get good at unarmed fighting when armed fighting beats it pretty much 100% of the time? for that matter why would you get good at armed fighting when the best arm is a gun and my 90 year old grandma could do it? as soon as the gun was invented everybody should've been like "guess fighting's done now since there's no point"

i never leave home without my punchkicks

Arthur Conley's "Sweet Soul Music" was a big hit in 1967, but it almost didn't get off the ground. The first time he performed the song, when he sang "do you like soul music," his backup singers sang back "no, man," bringing the song to an abrupt end

some early working names for ufc were "aw c'mon man no fair, no weapons, okay?" and "i could easily have taken him but he pulled a knife fighting league" and "you know i almost enlisted"

which speaks, really, to the human tendency towards developing technology to make a skill or activity obsolete, then ultimately discovering that doing the activity the old way is more personally fulfilling than the technological push-button way, and creating or maintaining a structure that permits the activity to be done in the Hobby Zone, somewhere outside the realm in which technology has rendered the Old Ways economically impractical

some people want to mow down civilians with a humvee mounted machine gun, and some people just want a legal way to choke another man out and then you both go home and have a beer

i watched "Bring Her Back" yesterday it's a horror movie from this year i like horror movies, oh this one is by those guys who made "Talk To the Hand" which is about people looking at ghosts using this shriveled hand, that one was already very good, i thought this was much better, it's about these kids who go to live with this wine aunt

i think it had a lot of elements that we've all seen before and some that i think get stupid often but maybe it just utilizes and balances them really well, like it had occult elements but those go almost completely unexplained because it's more a tool to serve the exploration of grief and it's good like that, and usually i don't like when the (this spoils whether there is a monster) monster is (this is a spoiler where i explain what the monster is) just a human that bites people because that's so boring but in this one the child actor was just so weird (and okay there is a little more to it) and the things they got him to bite... hoo boy

it's very good but it's really uncomfortable and depressing there's like heavy child abuse and i think they go too far in a couple of scenes especially when no one cuts away from the kid biting onto that knife jesus christ things happening to teeth is my least favorite thing ever and that boy looked like he just found out his passion to eat knives i hope he's alright hey at least there were no jump scares
