Acually Blaziken has two main moments in the Anime.

1. Ash battled Blaziken with Charizard at the end of the Johto Saga

2. Before the end of the Battle Frontier Saga, May's Combuskin
evolves during her final battle with Ash before they split up.

Plus during Johto, the Pokemon Company wanted to end the series
for good so they tied up all the loose ends (Gary quits and becomes
a resercher) and gave Ash a battle against Blaziken (who was new
at the time).
All that was planned until Nintendo took over and continued the series
on to Hoenn.

Nobody knows who the new pokemon are. The normal person well know who mewtwo and pikachu are unless they live under a rock, and jigglypuff I guess is sort of well known too. It's easy to tell that pichu is a baby pikachu. But that furry wolf guy with the pointy thing in his chest? I play diamond and I can't even remeber that guys name.

If they DO add more pokemon, I really hope it's from the first 150 back from when the normal person knew a few and all of them had good designs.

What they need to do (since I'm pretty sure going back is only what the fans, not the company, wants), is to establish certain pokemon as "main" pokemon, making them more popular and getting them known, because it seems not many people know any pokemon outside the first 150 or 200 or so pokemon.
