Ok so I have to do a project of sorts and realized just now that CS4 is nothing like Flash 8. I need to script a button to go to the next frame (sort of like a slide show), and I was assuming I would just script the button with on(release) {nextFrame}, however this is not the case as I can't even add actionscript into a symbol. Help me Clockcrew.

how is CS4 so much different from 8? Cs3 was hardly different either. (I havent seen CS4 either so who knows)
lemayo lol :soups:

The Spoiler

In AS3 you're only allowed to put code on the main timeline. I still use AS2 so part of this may be wrong, but try something like this. Give the button an instance name, then assign the onRelease code to it from the main timeline. I THINK the code would be
buttonname.onRelease = function(){
buttonname.nextFrame();
};
Or if not that, the same thing but with nextFrame instead of buttonname.nextFrame. There could be some extra steps involved that I don't know about, though.

I'm in quite the pickle, I had to import a couple videos into it, and they require AS3 so I can't script the way I normally did with As2. It's really silly, Flash 8 was a lot better.

In cs4 adobe decided to take a dump on everything that I was used to in any previous flash versions.

This, I assume.

Just open a new document and choose Actionscript 2.0, not 3.0. Things should be what you used to.

Also, for those who have tried CS4, is it just me or are the new motion tweens completely useless?

.

I hate Adobe. Flash has turned into a massive pile of shit now. I don't see ANY improvements.

Problem is that I have a video playing in there and it requires AS3 to play.

Also yeah, I haven't found a single use for them yet and classic tweens get glitchy sometimes.

AstronautClock

convince your school to keep using flash 8
