Right, so why do we have too keep going is my point. In what way is creating advanced AI justified? What are its uses? What is the point? Would it be beneficial or detrimental? Why would we want to replace jobs with robots?

Nintendo the robots are being made because corporations are the ones that can pay for the development of them, and in the end not having to pay people is their primary goal since they like to hold on to the money they have.  It doesn't make sense from a moral "give people jobs" standpoint but, really, corporations can give fuck-all about that shit.

My post came off sounding like I didn't advocate the advancement of technology, but I think as technology improves people can devote their time to more worthwhile things.

There are tons of jobs that don't need advanced AI to be replaced. Starbucks could be run by a manager and coffee machines. Factories only need human quality checkers.

Developing advanced AI to make complex decisions would only be necessary to replace managers and other workers whose decisions actually affect a company. We really don't need to replace these guys, because there aren't that many of them compared to easily replaceable mindless worker drones.

Edit: So in other words, Advanced AI is detrimental because the money it would cost to develop and test would not be worth the relatively small amount of managers' salaries it would replace, except maybe in the long run, but companies could really care less about "the long run".

i still dont see why people should just be handed jobs when there is a more cost efficient, less error prone, faster alternative out there. every person has the resources available to them to learn skills or knowledge that is required for most available jobs out there.

tldr;
so forgive me if i have absolutely no sympathy for uneducated high school graduates who feel that they are entitled to jobs that meet their skill set, instead of gaining new skills to become qualified for one of the many jobs that are available.

You have no faith in humanity. Awesome. Only a sad sack of shit who sits on his computer all day would hold this view. I'd imagine this generalization fits you quite well.

If you are indeed suggesting that the broad spectrum of the current young adult population is undeserving of jobs then perhaps the answer isn't AI but a more sensible approach that challenges these social norms that you are suggesting exist. I am not saying however that there are not pockets of people our age who just don't give a fuck however I don't think the problem is unsolvable and in need of artificial replacement. I for one prefer to believe in human ingenuity (and by this I don't mean developing advanced AI to replace jobs) rather then some kind of farcical existence where we give up on our own youth and submit to the will of our future robotic overlords...
