But it's better when LSDers aka Acidheads make it because they have more of an understanding of the drug and it's effects. If you get a bunch of artists going "Hey this is kinda trippy" then it just doesn't have the same unification.

Only if they're bad artists. A good artist researches, surrounds themselves in the subject and finds the source of the style they're working with before they start creating stuff. They don't just have a quick look at something and think they can mimic it, they work from the inside out.

A bad artist could take a load of acid and still come out with complete shit.

Still though, there are immense subleties in the movie and smoking acid. It's like someone making a remake of Cheech and Chong. If the actors and props guys and director especially never smoked weed, the remake would be shit.

Now that should of course never happen and no matter what, a remake to classics like these would just ruin the source material for everyone who saw it, and should never be done. But the way I see it, if they're gonna remake it, they might as well know what they're remaking!
