Create boot disk

How do I create a system boot disc?
I want to try installing OSes on my PC that was completely formatted somehow.
 
I have no floppies, but plenty of blank CDs and a laptop with high speed wireless.

if you want linux you can easily burn life cd's with downloadable .isos windows....we dont talk about pirating stuff here.

Ubuntu is a free download.
I got the OS exe right here.
 
PS: so was the windows one off the microsoft site, for some reason
