I never go to clubs or bars where they play DnB, I just listen it at home and on my MP3 player.

Wow this thread grew. I kinda posted it and then made that one reply then forgot about it.

The appeal, IMO, is that it's high energy and (for the most part) bass heavy, not to mention it's a constantly evolving genre. If you compare DnB from 1999 and earlier to DnB now it's not just a difference of more improved synths or better drum samples (which there is a difference in, of course) but it's also a difference in how the BPM has increased pretty drastically and bass has gotten heavier and deeper.
With every artist in Drum n Bass there is a new style, a new influence, that reflects itself upon the drum n bass community as a whole. I mean, even now look at it. There is drum n bass, regular Pendulum and DJ Fresh, etc... Then there is drum n bass' evil twin brother, dubstep. Then there is liquid drum n bass, which is basically drum n bass with easier bass, every artist you listen to will show some sort of difference. Unless, of course, you're deaf. In which case you have my sympathy.

tl;dr: Drum n bass changes so frequently and with each artist, the variation of it yet the constant combination of sick drumlines with fat bass adds to the appeal of the music.

Speaking of changes of drum n bass and stuff, the High Contrast track "Too Late", I think it's called, is fucking sick. I've been humming it in my head all day and singing the lyrics and shit.

Also, Pendulum's new track, Granite, is fucking AMAZING.  The only people that have vinyls of it are Fabio and Grooverider of Radio1, the other electronic DJ on Radio1, and Pendulum themselves. Shit is fucking EXCLUSIVE. There's so much hype to get tracks in Drum n Bass, and that also adds to the appeal. Because you can get stuff before other people which gives you the ability to gloat, and frankly who doesn't enjoy that?

Oh also, Concord Dawn has a lot of good shit and a really comprehensive (and fucking HEAVY) mix on //www.dnbshare.com .

Also, quality in terms of what? Taste in music is entirely opinionated, so if you are referring to 'quality' in that sense I would not even try to sway your opinion, because it is your opinion and you have a right to like or to dislike whatever music you want.

But in terms of "musical quality", in the technical sense, you don't get much better than techno. When you buy audio from //www.dogsonacid.com or from Audio Zoo or any place like that (where you download the .mp3 directly after buying) the quality is just about always 320kb/s+ (by the + I mean instead of a kb/s you get "lossless" when programs try reading the quality).

Propane Nightmare was a let down. It's like they realised indie kids liked them and redirected themselves towards that market.
It's still heavy in some parts but nothing compared to stuff like Masochist and Fasten Your Seatbelts.
