I'm back from my first day of training

Hi Triangle I'm making a livejournal here.

Anyway, I woke up at 6, started driving at 7 and found the damn place at 8.
When I got there, a guy with a bandana and dreads  greeted me.  He was Larry.  He said Ryan (the guy training me) wasn't there yet, but he led me into the small little office and said I could wait there until Ryan did get there.
I waited for about 10 minutes.  Then, Larry came back and started working on the computer next to me.  A minute after, two other people came in.  The one was Ryan, and the other was Matt, another guy being trained who was on his second day.  I signed some shit, and then was told how things were going to go.  Today and tomorrow I'd be going down the river just learning things, and on the third day I was going to "shadow", which is I actually lead a group of people.  If I do good on that, I get the job.
So, first, we learned how to rescue a person out of the raft in water with a rope bag.  We practice a couple times, then moved on.  It started raining, then (we were getting some of the rain from the tropical storm Hanna).
Then we learned how to do a Z-pull.  It was really cool.
Then we were told to suit up.  So I got a wetsuit and life vest and oar.  Wetsuits are really awesome.
Then, me, Ryan, Larry, AJ (a friend of Ryan and Matt's who works there), and a big guy who works there that we call Moose got in.  Then, we took a long trip to the river.
During the whole time I was nervous as hell, as I've never been whitewater rafting before.  It didn't help that the wetsuits were freakin' hot.
Anyway, then we reached the river and got in a raft.
So, we went under the first bridge, where there was a bit of a current.  We stopped there and practice saving each other with the rope again.  We learned that the area right by the current where it's very calm is called an "eddie" (I'm not sure how it's spelled).
Then we learned how to do barrel rolls when in a current to save ourselves.  We were taught how to dive into water where we don't know if there are rocks there or not.  I practice three times.  The first time I hit my shoulder, second time I hit my balls, and the third time I scraped my knee.  The wetsuit and life jacket made it not as painful, though.
Anyway, then we rowed down a lot while.  I captained the boat (where you're in charge of steering and order which side rows which way) for a really long time.  We practice what to say when captaining, how to row and all that.  It was really fun rafting down the river.  Occasionally we'd rest for a bit and talk.  It was a lot of fun.  We talked about stuff like what are the two poisonous snakes in our area (the Copper snake and the Timber Rattlesnake).
Then we reached a lunch area and had hotdogs while hanging out with other workers and the people rafting.  After that, we headed down the river again.
Then, Matt captained the boat and we went for quite a while again.  At one point, we got out of the boat and just floated slowly along in the river as the current carried us, which was really awesome.
After we got back in the boat, we reached the Type 2 rapids in the river.  We stopped there for a while and practiced saving people again.  Then we practiced saving a person with their foot caught.  Doing that required us to cross the rapids, so we learned how to form a man-made, moving eddie.  It was really cool.  Then we directed rafters around some huge rocks.  Then we went down the rapids and got off at the shore.  We deflated and packed up the rafts and got on the bus.
During the bus trip people kept cheering and stuff and it was a lot of fun.  We found out that all the people were actually from a bachelor party.  We took a 25-minute bus trip back to the place.  Then, I packed up my shit, put everything away, said goodbye everyone and left.  I'm going back tomorrow at the same time to finish up training.
