His last post was in January of 09. Sometime that year, I guess?

Edit: It was before November 2nd 09 and Dwarfinator seems to know about it, he should post itt if he knows the general time the money disappeared from the account.

this isnt how statute of limitations works. if its been less than 3 years (which it seems to be) itll almost definitely still be within our window to take legal action

I don't have the thread link ready, but I'm pretty sure we figured out in an older thread that Tree was in some personal financial trouble a while back. Here's a Destructoid post from 2009 where he's trying to sell the remainder of his stuff. Tree might have "borrowed" the prize money fund because he had to, intending to pay it back, but then wasn't able to. (If by some incredible turn of events Tree is now rich enough to blow $1000 on whatever he wants, maybe he's just forgotten he still owes us.)

Before literally calling the fucking feds, we could actually try locating Tree, either through someone who knew him, or through the Virginia Tech alumni directory if possible. That is, if people actually care about this and aren't just getting riled up about it because it's cool. If possible, I'd like to hear who donated what amount to the Tree prize fund, just to see how many people still here at the Clock Crew actually lost more than like $20 to this fiasco. I know some people donated a lot, but that was the minority.

Besides, it's not like if we had the $1000 in prize money back, you'd all suddenly be making better movies trying to win it.

People have already located and talked to him before. For a while he said he would give us the money back "eventually" but then he stopped answering messages. The time for trust and understanding is over, now is the time for justice.
