Only people who have seen Prometheus in here: If you have seen the movie, or don't really care about spoilers, then stick around. Otherwise FOCK OFF.

I'll start by saying I actually enjoyed this movie a lot in a weird way, but it sure as fuck pissed me the hell off. Rather than defend it I'm going to tear it apart because that's more fun and because it deserves it.

Let's start with this guy:

Damon Lindelof. I have a theory about him. He's been writing for TV shows such as LOST for so long, that he cannot resist his developed compulsion to squeeze a TV season's worth of plot twists and reveals into a 2 hour feature.

Let's have a look at the cast of the original Alien:

Seven guys and a cat, (one of them is secretly a backstabbing robot) VS the Alien.
Alien Establishes a claustrophobic setting, and accounts for all members of the crew as they slowly get picked off one by one. You sense a centrality to the group, and any one who wanders out of the group is placed in immediate danger or killed off. Aliens does not differ a whole lot from this, except for the emphasis on plurality: More Aliens are accommodated by more Soldiers, more guns. Right away half of the crew is killed off, and the Pilots on the dropship are killed as well. The group maintains focus and centrality through survival. If you aren't part of the group, you're dead.

Prometheus' cast is all over the fucking place. While there's an excellent feeling of suspense created by having the teams go out to the Engineer compound in groups, you have faceless crew members hanging out on the ship, who are never explored, and are kept alive just to go down in a glorious (I'm a edgy teen) suicide bombing operation at the end. You have a decrepit old scrotum of a man who is revealed in the last act, which didn't have to be a secret at all, they should have just shown him on the ship from the beginning. Jesus, Lindelof can't resist a half-million big reveals.

Other things:

-Unnecessary ambiguity as to whether or not Charlize Theron is a robot.
-Too many creatures: (Pussy snakes, Caviar zombies, Pussy squids, Engineers, Proto-xenomorph)
-Underdeveloped religious pseudo-philosophical bullshit
-Overly complicated sexual reproductive cycle (David sneaks caviar into guys drink > guy jizzes in Elizabeth's barren pussy hole > Elizabeth removes Squid baby > Squid baby grows to maturity > squid baby fucks the Ubermensch in the mouth, Xenomorph bursts from Ubermensch's tum-tum

TelephoneClock

Wow there really were a lot of plot twists now that I think about it. Lot of shitty ones too, even I could see from a mile away that Theron was the old guy's daughter.

Yeah I was completely confused by that zombie. The rest of the creatures I sort-of get, I mean sure it makes sense that the black ooze can transform creatures into the Face Hugger-esue monsters. But then that one Alien lays all those eggs on the ship? Or they were already there???

Do you mean the eggs that were on the planet in Alien and Aliens? No that was one thing that was confusing. The planet in Prometheus is another planet altogether, so we have to assume that the Engineers/Space Jockeys somehow delivered the newborn Xenomorph from LV-223 to LV-426.

But...
http://www.prometheus-movie.com/community/forums/topic/6944
according to this discussion, LV-426 is a moon orbiting LV-223

This is all very unnecessarily complicated, and I think they might have been setting Prometheus up for a sequel before getting to Alien

hahaha no shit.

I had no idea about the planet's names, I thought it took place on the same planet as Alien :I

GearBoxClock

I enjoyed it. It wasn't as good as Alien, but it worked in it's own way. Though the zombie thing was stupid as fuck.

It was also fucking stupid that no one gave a shit about the alien abortion afterwards. It was a great scene but no one even asked if she was okay!

And when she talked to David about it, he all but said "Lol, you're fucked"

The Xenomorph from Prometheus is not necessarily the ancestor of the one in Alien. When the crew enters the chamber with the murals there are Xenomorphs and face-huggers depicted. So the Engineers have dealt with them prior to this.

VuBawlsClock

Maybe the engineers created races just to destroy them. Why else would this engineer try doing that to earth while the one in Alien had a ship full of Alien eggs
Fuck Steven Universe

You're right, but it's still pretty goddamn ridiculous how complicated it is to manufacture them.

VuBawlsClock

so i saw it last night. what if the engineers banished him there in the beginning and made him drink that, not knowing what it would do. later, they found that humans were spawned and that they were gonna wipe them out because we were abominations from them
also the movie wasn't confusing at all and i loved it
Fuck Steven Universe

I figured that the creation of the Xenomorphs was pure luck, rather than a deliberate thing. The Engineers will probably just capitalize on them in the sequel.

BoomStick Clock

I just assumed as effectively being humans they just loved doing war with one another and so they went about creating the most elaborate weapons testing facility ever with a species that would respond very similarly to their own when faced with their bio-weapons.

miracle fruit

the monster fight between squidbaby and the space jockey was pretty cool

I loved this movie, but my friend mentioned this to me after we walked out of the theater:
