So I'm considering changing my name (who cares right).


TropicanaClock: I've been using this name for good solid 10 years, Already have established a (minuscule) reputation, small fan base. I like tropicanaclock its a great persona, and even the name is fun to say aloud.

Theres some inherent problems about it though, for one my character is based of a real life company, two that real life
company may come after me someday for copyrights and what not. Im not too worried about the previous aspect, 1 and million chance they would even give half a fuck about clockcrew movies.

JuiceClock: Now theres some pluses to this, My characters now an original character that can be used in any medium, Secondly it would be a clean slate, I can start over and push a different sort of art style or behaviors. Next the new nickname might give me more zeal with my projects, ill get to make a new fla all all that fun,
 ive been using my hum drum tropicana character forever im getting bored with him.

Another bonus is my clock character doesn't even change, ether name im still just juice.

Stupid selfwhoring, but I thought id let the CRU weight in on this decision

I definitely see where you're coming from. I thought Durian would be a better decision than Hawaiian Punch back whenever for just about the same reasons. If we ever got into merchandising and stuff of that nature, like if we ever did t-shirts or dvd/blu-ray of our animations, all the clocks with copyrighted names wouldn't be able to be included for legal reasons. Back in 2002 when Knotts brought about the "Official Clock Crew Store" (which was just a little cafe press store) Mountain Dew was upset his character wasn't put on the shirts, but for obvious reasons he was not included. On the topic of your name change though, I don't think JuiceClock would be a bad decision, but perhaps OrangeJuiceClock would identify/relate a little more with your previous name.

I very much like your name, in part because it is one of those that fills me with warm nostalgia. But you lay out a pretty convincing argument for changing it, so although I voted "don't change it" for sentimental reasons, I'd have to cast my actual vote as "probably, if you want."

from the majority of people it sounds like you all are alright with the name change but would prefer if I didn't. Ill be making a decision soon.

Realistically, I think Clock Crew merchandising will never reach the point where anybody would find out or care that we were using their logos/trademarks/trade dress.

I like TropicanaClock, not that (Orange)Juice is without its attractions. If you're at all interested in doing something commercially with the image/name without really changing it, might I suggest switching around a couple letters.

No offense (You know I <3 you!) but, JuiceClock, just seems so broad to me. Like if someone were to sign up as FruitClock, VegetableClock, CandyClock, etc.. I'm kinda left being like "Well which fruit/vegetable/candy/juice are you supposed to be?" I believe OrangeJuiceClock is as much of a mouthful as StrawberryClock, MountainDewClock, PeanutButterClock, FloundermanClock, etc.. Just throwing my opinion on the matter out there since it's currently being debated, not trying to totally sway your thoughts, it's your clock and all.
