NG has gotten shittier and shittier over the years. It used to be a potpourri of creative ideas! Now whenever I look at the front page there's only pokémon spoofs and other videogame related garbage. I feel like the creativity of the place has dwindled. Also that fucking portal annoys me to no end! Having to wait for nearly 24 hours for a flash to pass judgement, because it's completely clogged with submissions sucks donkey anus!
It's stuff like this that's made me feel more and more annoyed with the place over the last couple of months.

I have an old youtube account on which I've posted school assignments for the most part. I think I'll start showcasing some stuff there which isn't school related. I'm probably going to check out Vimeo too, since it seems most animators post their shit there these days.

I really hope my comic comes out as grand as I'm picturing it in my head. I originally wished to turn it into an animated feature, but I'm poor - and since animation costs a ton of money to produce profesionally - I quickly realised that such a feature isn't going to happen anytime soon. Therefore I've decided to make it in comic book form instead.

If you stay, it will change into whatever you make it. Change how you think of your audience/peers while you're working if you need to to keep yourself moving, but don't remove your work from communities just because they seem stagnant or like they're getting less good. Stick with them. Lift them up.

It doesn't happen overnight, but be the changes you want to see. Make movies about what you want to see movies about. Take your art as seriously as you take it and don't worry about what people think.

Newgrounds would be better if more people stayed there and kept active in the communities as they progressed as artists.

The Clock Crew at its best is a surrealist art collective. The power of coordinated mass action can be used to promote any video, not just spammy ones or stuff with clock characters. But most people seem to be drawn away from participation with the group as soon as they become interested in non-clock projects, and this tends to limit what the group is associated with, as well as the combined wisdom and knowledge it has to offer to new clocks.

The more people who stay in a community while they grow, the more the community will grow, over time.

Also, using sites like NG keeps huge sites like YouTube from destroying the entire concept of sites like NG and eventually allowing Big Media a greater stranglehold on content distribution. Solid independent content networks require good enough content to be worth watching. Leave them when they get shitty, and they'll only get shittier. Stick around and pour in the best you can, and it contributes to a community that values whatever you've been putting in. Having other people you know online to hike up your views some should help along that process.

I mean do what you want, man. But that's my 2 cents.

edit: I'm a weenie. It comes across as condescending douchery, but it's really weeniedom. It makes me preachy.

Oh wave, haven't talked to him in a while... Aah I remember when he sent me that. Anyway I actually joined in 2011, it's just my account was taken down so I had to make another. But I been watching clock movies ever since 2006.

Topcatyo

yeah ng is pretty dumb that's why i post my mvoies there because i am a whore

InkwellClock

You've got some really good points Flavor.
I wasn't going to remove my content from NG. I just weren't going to add more.

My only real problem with leaving NG would be the music I use. I don't have any talent whatsoever when it comes to writing music so I have to rely on other people's material when it comes to that part of flashing. NG wins in this regard with the Audio Portal. Sure I could keep using music from the AP but I'm not sure uploading flashes that feature this music in other places than NG is a good idea. I don't know...

AmberArachnidClock

I don't interact with the community, I just submit stuff for the ego boost

DecepticonClock

I felt that way in 2001. But regret stopping a few years later. I eventually stopped making any animations. And my best ones are lost on a computer that got a virus, but had I submitted them id have them still to view at least. Now I only have writing and some drawing as a creative outlet. I miss flash but I just cant seem to get back into it. :/

DecepticonClock

P.s. This site has no activity anymore.

PhantomCatClock

Everybody's awake but out partying and having a life

DecepticonClock

How dare they! Join me in despair. Also holy shit im almost 30 now. I was 17 when I joined this crew.

InkwellClock

I was 22 when I joined.
Also shit! I'm running out of people to go drinking with, cause all my mates are getting married and having kids so they don't have the time anymore.

WimpyClock

Schmellements Clawk

Sorry to hear that man, I can relate a bit.  As WimpyClock mentioned, there's always YouTube if you wanted to venture out.

InkwellClock

I'm def going to give youtube a go. Might as well. I have taken all of the comments I've gotten from you guys into consideration and I might continue sombmitting stuff to NG after all. However if I do it will probably mostly be silly loops and short projects. All the bigger stuff will be launched other places from now on. That being said I've got a new flash in the works entitled "Swimming". It's going to be pretty fucking odd!

AbsintheClock

Listen Inkwell,

I love your work. I could give a fuck less where you put it. Just keep making stuff, and keep coming here. Your shit makes people want to make cool shit, and I know that because it makes me want to make cool shit.
