So I've been looking for a new computer to buy, and I found the windows 8. It's like a laptop but the size of an iPad. It looks very good but some people been saying it's shit. Tell me what you think.

Well it is pretty cheap for a laptop, but when I saw people review it, I liked how it looked.

The interface is horrible. Metro is designed with touchscreens in mind.. and even then it is pointless and annoying.

What are you lookin to do with the notebook?

If you're looking for a simple laptop to make Flash on... and you want bang for your buck.. Buy this.

miracle fruit

just get 7

there is a reason why they are the same price

PezClock

Wow pops, it's so cheap. I'll think of it.

MFC has a point, win7 regardless of it going underwater soon is still a much better operating system then windows 8. Let alone the fact that microsoft operates in service packs. So you should wait till sp1 to check it out if anything. Even then you can download the release candidate and check that out for free as an eval so. Consider all your options buddy.
We\'ll be back shortly.

counter side to the argument is that it has a faster boot time, and over all system preformance. People seem to loathe the gui. Its not like you cant downgrade to windows 7 if you dont care for it

if that has pressure sensitivity im  sold

Does it have touch screen? Then yes. Otherwise, no.

If anything else it's not worth the compatibility problems.

Okay so I'm going to go out on a limb and say all these mofuckas are batshit dumb here and here's why.

Yes, metro is designed for a touchscreen interface, but part of me feels like Pez is asking in relation to this commercial:

Either way that's not a terrible tablet, but I'd just recommend a laptop. Cheaper, no touch screen but useful.

Windows 8 has lots of performance enchancements above 7, and while the start menu is something people don't really like, They're changing it so you can have the option to boot to desktop with 8.1, which is a free upgrade coming in in June. Alongside that there are plenty of ways to add back the start menu if you so desire... me, since I use the start menu like a glorified search bar, the new metro tiles aren't half bad.

Of course take it with a grain of salt, but the only way Windows 8 has after that "wonderful" reveal is, well, up.

But Xbox One is still bullshit wtf MS.

In other words, wait for sp 1.

I believe the digitiezer is actually Wacom powered and sports 256 pressure levels...

That's about a forth of the Bamboo or an eighth of the Intuos... but does the average hobbyist even need 2000+ pen pressures?

PezClock

I'll get the tablet pops suggested. I just need money.

Fax Clock

Hmm... people still think that you have to use the Metro apps/interface.

I've been using Win8 since January (i think) because i got it for free with my new CPU and i decided to give it a try.
So just enter the Desktop Mode and it's exactly like Win7.

It's just stupid to navigate. Something as simple as going to control panel or explorer takes extra clicks. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Well that's true, it's hard as fuck to do a simple task like Shutting Down the PC.

I'm building a new PC as we speak and I ordered Windows 8 for it. I work in interface design to some extent designing websites, and I really don't like it when people just hate on a new interface simply because it's new. Now, I'm not saying y'all are doing that to Windows 8 - you may have legitimate points. I've only used it on other people's machines for brief periods of time. However I've heard a lot of people hate on it who have never used it. And for years PC-users (the ones who actually care about what OS they use) have mocked the Apple OS notion that it "just works," and have taken it upon themselves to dive into their machines and figure out what makes them tick. But with Windows 8 they suddenly refuse to learn a new interface? Change is scary, but it's a good thing. It reminds me of every Facebook overhaul ever. People immediately hate it, and then after using it for a while they learn that they can't live without it.

Again, this is a pretty impartial rant, just saying don't hate on something just because it's new, dive in there and try to learn it and then make judgments.

i think the general public has a decent enough notion of what sucks and what is worth getting. nobody hated on windows 7 or xp because they didnt suck

also i dont remember a single facebook overhaul, all i remember is zinkerberg making stupid nonsensical changes one click/drag at a time and being an annoyign cocksucker. actually i dont have to remember anything because hes doing this right now as i type

BilliardBall10

well, windows 8 sucks, according to half my school/friends/pc experts i know.
try windows 7.

Man the general public does things like buy One Direction tickets in droves and makes Michael Bay movies hugely successful. People hate change and that's why the box office is crammed with sequels. I'm not even saying Windows 8 is good or bad, just that many people who get on message boards to complain about it are just 7 users trying to justify not upgrading, and haven't actually used 8 once.
