Hey guys

So I was just wondering how much you guys feel hatred towards other people's musical tastes. Like, if a friend tries to show you music, is it immeaditaly disgusting to you just on a basis of imagining all the stupid reasons why they would like it? I do that, that's why I only download albums that allmusic recommends in their monthly editor's choice thing. It gives me a lot of great music that a lot of people don't know of, but fuck does it make me feel really bad because I DO have that kind of horrible thing where I want my taste in shit, particularly music, to basically be RIGHT. And I don't think it has to do with being cool, I just have an irrational fear when it comes to this shit, which I think is because I spent many years working on music and I just felt so weird doing it and I still feel off about music and I'm at that point where I REALLLY don't want to hit enter and post this thread but im gonna do it anway

buttplug

I don't feel it I just tell them I don't like it

I used to be like that. I try to stay more open minded now.

There are still some bands I hate now matter how much I try... like Chilli Peppers and Green Day... but I got to appreciate ppl like Garth Brooks and Justin Timberlake and rather enjoy them now..

miracle fruit

i dont hate them .... i just feel superior because im not an idiot

I've finally embraced my E-black heritage and started listening to Nas. My only regret is not doing it earlier

I started up as a typical teen listening to some nirvana and shit and whatever my dad listens to. but fortunately my dad listens to pink floyd and alice cooper and stuff. I had a good start and then I got into heavier rock and metal.
then I had a period where I just listened to a lot of metal and not much else. bought many band shirts you know the dealio.
I also listen to laid back music these days club music and dubstep drum n bass I like it most of the time. I've always liked 90's hiphop too because its just ~fresh~ and sounds pretty nice overall imo.
I can usually appreciate most music for what it is. except gangster rap it seems like a parody of itself and I cant take it serious ever

FLOUNDERMAN_CLOCK

i listen to everything except country and rap lololol :ohboy:

I think hank williams and nick moon are alright

I have an open mind toward music, but if I don't like it I just say "Yeah this is cool" and then never listen to them.

Going back to the first post, having a right taste is a weird idea.

Moving on to what we've actually been talking about, I've always listened to the bigger names in country on occasion, mostly rock and some of it pretty questionable rock, but damn. The same people who I know have been listening to the same music I have been listening to my whole life, that I've talked to about that music for my whole life, go batshit insane at the mention of rap. I didn't even say any specific names/songs/subgenres/how few songs I actually listen to, I just mentioned that I've recently started liking it and hoooooo fuuuuuuck do I ever get it. It's like everybody I know has a prewritten six-line paragraph ready at a moment's notice about how it's just music about how many whores rappers can fuck in an hour and how great drugs are. I'd like to apologize to everybody for people like that/me because I know I've been like that about music before.

It's actually catchy as fuck music about how many whores rappers can fuck in an hour and how great drugs are

Speaking of rap anyone listen to death grips? I gave em a shot after I heard about all the trolling they did to their label and their fans and they're pretty interesting.

Yeah Hank Williams is alright classic country is quite listenable. People overlook the entire genre because of the absolutely god fucking awful shit being the only stuff on the radio and tv for the past few decades. Pop country might be the worst genre next to crunkcore.

But really, when people say they listen to "everything" they never really mean it.

People do things for different reasons, everyone gets something different out of music. There's a lot of depth. If someone thinks something different is cool and you don't understand, try to figure out what they see in it.
