since nobody makes flash anymore and rightfully so because its too time investing and newgrounds is a place that nobody visits anymore.

we should prob make stupid crappy drawings and infest places likes tumblr reddit 9gag 4chan and all those popular places.
and on every drawing it should have clockcrew.cc somewhere prob

thats the only way I can see the clockcrew living on, we should change with the internet. and we need new folks that we can bully away.

you guys have any ideas to extend the life of the clockcrew? this is just silly were just waiting until everyone becomes inactive and then a handful of people are left until they leave too.
I've seen this before back in the day. there is used to be a lot of websites that had their own flash portal back when newgrounds was new they tried to imitate newgrounds because it had the most visitors and it was self sustaining. but it never worked out. the places remind me of the clockcrew now

Smegheadclock

I actually agreed with branching out a long time ago (the response to that was that we needed to regain a foothold in newgrounds but that plan has gone out the window because the portal is dead) but abandoning flash is another matter. In the end the clock crew started out as an animation group. The clock crew are most known for that today - even if most newgrounders still think of us as a spam group. The clock crew can't simply exist as a community - it needs to have somthing special in it. Somthing cool that makes people think we're amazing and bring in noobs. While I agree that we should become less flash orientated, we still need to have a purpose. Images are a good way of getting everybody to celebrate clock day because anybody with ms paint can make one but it's not enough to bring noobs in.

I'm very loyal to newgrounds but I don't think that the clock crew can survive on newgorunds alone. Newgrounds should be a place that the clock crew upload content to - we can't ignore it. At the same time we still need to become a group that spans may different websites and doesn't limit it's community. Flash is very limiting but until we find a suitable replacement (or at least supplement) it's not somthing we can simply chuch out the window.
???-2004?=dark ages, 2005?=atomic betty era, 2006=red dwarf era, 2007-2009=newgrounds era, 2009-on= anime era.
What have I done with my life?

NintendoClock

except we've been saying this for years and for years it's never happened.

okay, you guys know, like, normalboots.com
and, uh
idk
everday comics, or chez apocalypse, or red letter media

they're websites, that function as a content aggregation hub, for a few contributors, who've agreed to produce content on a semi-regular basis, for the collective sake of the site, and each other

that's where I see the future of the clock crew rn
we, as a group, currently and always have expanded by drawing members from our audience- ALL of us started as fans. but at this point in time if we want an audience, we need to be able to keep up with the rest of the internet, and that means producing content on a consistent basis
that's what the clock crew website needs to be: a place where you can come to see content, and hang out with the creators, and learn to do what we do yourself

we should also consider incorporating new methods into our content production
like, we should learn and teach each other toonboom or tv paint or paper or something. idk. our internet cartoons... they look like internet cartoons from over a decade ago.

we're internet entertainers. we deal in the currency of attention. everybody on the internet is our direct competitor and we are not holding our own. people are reading articles on cracked, they're watching vine compilations, liking gifsets, and reading digestible clickbait articles on cracked and buzzfeed. frederator studios has an entire youtube channel of free almost-tv-quality productions, as does freaking namco. devchat, have you even heard of them? well they just released a downloadable package of free video games for, like, no reason.

we don't have to be private independent American animation studio Frederator, but we need to at least be the spunky amateur version of them. we can be the spunky cartoon animators version of spunky video game reviewers normal boots or spunky independent game developers devchat.
we got so comfortable being the big fish in a small pond that we stopped taking chances, and the pond is drying up. we got to get back on the horse, damnit. the world needs more us.

BilliardBall10

i agree, so lets start by conquering youtube. add videos, and maybe some podcasts, OR A NEWS CHANEL with CLOCK CREW NEWS. and having funny jokes and stuff.

also we should create a site like cracked.com.
it could be cool.

k -i raise dragons. here we go -click HERE- i mean click the eggs -and the dragons, until they become  adults.

RenegadeClock

How about setting up a community tumblr account? That way we can all add content without investing a lot of time into custom programming a site, and then people reblog stuff to spread it around.

PhantomCatClock

Or as links to the flashes. Going from flash to still images is a step backwards, even if it does suck to make. It's not like we don't make images now, anyway, but it could be a real gimmick if nobody else cares about flash any more. Hipsters love retro

And extending to 4chan might not be the best idea, but those others sound aight

This is probably the best way to go about it, but there's an entire new bucket of worms that gets thrown into the mix there. At that point we open the Clock Crew up to the general populous of younger internet users who have never been exposed to it before, in a way much different than we're accustomed to that new audience absorbing it. The way you were 14 years old and discovering Newgrounds on the family computer way back when, today there is some 14 year old discovering youtube on his iPad or tablet device/what have you. It's not just the distribution methodology of Newgrounds or Youtube that has changed, it's the entire web platform and how it's ingested by the masses. The Clock Crew turns 13 this year. That's a long fucking time to be around online, and there's a massive repository of in-jokes, organization defining drama, and just plain old content associated with what the CC is. To get the Clock Crew out there into the popular online consciousness we walk the line of losing the identity of what it is we are. We risk becoming a meme, basically.  Slurpee mentioned the 'big fish little pond' thing, but the thing about the little pond is that it gave the ability to have rules and standards of what it meant to be a clock. No two people with the same clockname sort of things, right?

It's tired as hell right now and having a hard time trying to express my reservations coherently, but I hope I'm at least making some sense.

I don't ever want to see the Clock Crew morphed into some rageface-esque copy paste comic generator shit, or an idea so deluded it's impossible to imagine it ever being taken seriously, or worst of all, some toothless sanitized facsimile- as The Looney Tunes Show is to the Golden Age shorts.

This, of course, all assuming that this concept of sentient objects with clocks for faces manages to catch on with a new broader audience. Which is kind of a tricky detail all on it's own.

one site's just as bad as the other, don't kid yourself.

I'm really liking this idea! Also, a few years ago, some people were suggesting having more of a presence on reddit, too. There's actually a ClockCrew subreddit, and also an animation subreddit we could post links to our flashes to. Both of those ideas are good. I don't think still images are the best idea, but we could do more animated GIFs. People like animated GIFs.
flash rules everything around me, f.r.e.a.m.??? get the fivens, portal portal spam, y\'all

that's why im putting emphasis on centralized content distribution

having a presence on reddit or tumblr or whatever is cool, but there's a big difference between, for example, Game Grumps, and /r/gamegrumps

Yes, I totally agree! NintendoClock's pessimism isn't going to get us anywhere!

Anywaaaays... I reserved the domain http://theclockcrew.tumblr.com/ a while ago, so that when the time came and everyone was on board with the idea of having one, we would have one. So whenever you guys want to start uploading stuff to it, let me know and i'll add you as a contributing member!

Every time we talk about this and then do nothing, we should put a dollar in a jar. Then next year, we can buy Facebook.

pop-tart

Seriously though, we should be a presence on all those other sites. The first thing we need to realize is (Astro was alluding to this, I think) that not everybody gets our sense of humor. We'd have to make a product that is digestible by the masses. Which could mean jumping on bandwagons and other shit we oppose.

That being said, I have a ton of shit I've made that's not clock related (my avatar for instance.) Like Astro said... we can start just by infesting sites with our stuff...

Some random shit I've done

or

we could trump up our whole Clock thing like it's some kind of neo-dada/neo-surrealist statement, and claim that our esoteric in-jokes are symbols for something hella deep. we could act like a real art collective, like Paper Rad!

let's get the Clock Crew in Juxtapoz magazine, guys

little off-topic:
you guys remember this?
http://blog.onlineclock.net/animation-legends-the-clock-crew/

I said at the time that with a little restructuring it could read like a mission statement, and I still think that. this is like a thematic statement of what we're about

QuoteOne group of artistic pioneers have made that idea excel in animation. Their purpose is to create a supportive community for amateur animators and artists focusing on clock themes; to provide a completely unique entertainment experience for viewers and followers. They have formed a network where every clock artist is free to express themselves in any fashion, however most choose flash animation. Some may choose still image artwork or music media instead, but the main focus of the group is flash animation. Who are they? The Clock Crew.

[...]

Most animations submitted by The Clock Crew focus on some form of an extraordinary adventure or a farce of a popular movie or event. When something happens that normally would be bad or dangerous, these animations weave abstract fun and humor into the plot to create an entertainment quality that intrigues and fascinates the viewer. Although the animations are far from professional, the quality of entertainment is definitely good, fun and unique in each one and creates a respectful integrity for each presentation. After viewers watch several of these abstract animations, understanding how the spread of popularity happened so quickly is easy. Quirky situations with unpredictable events coupled with the impossible notion of a clock manifesting itself as a piece of food or fruit (and being heroic) make these animations comparable to none. Choppy sounding narration is common in these presentations, adding to the simplicity they project.

[...]

Refusing to fight fire with fire, The Clock Crew nobly responded to these negative animations offering kindness and help to those who hated them, which increased the anger of the opposing side. Many people tend to root for the underdogs in life, so of course this meant even more popularity for The Clock Crew. Their unique and unpredictable response reflected their unique and unpredictable style.

[...]

But be careful: these video animations are often wild, irrelevant, anarchic pieces of art; and theyââ,¬â,,¢re sometimes not politically correct and not safe for work. Just try to keep an open mind and remember that clocks just want to have fun.

Sure, the quality of the individual animations varies, but on the whole The Clock Crew has released a great deal of truly fun, interesting art to the worldââ,¬Â¦and we think this is pretty darn cool. Thereââ,¬â,,¢s enough boring stuff in this world, and itââ,¬â,,¢s great that people still make things for the fun they get out of doing it.

just something to keep in mind going forward

we could almost definitely start work with the clock crew's massive back-catalog

what we have is massive and scattered haphazardly all around newgrounds. we could start working through and tagging it all- it'd be easier than making all new content, it's something we should probably do anyway, and it would preserve our existing content while also making it more accessible.

tumblr has a built in tag system, right? we just need a presentable format for putting stuff up there, and at that point even doing one a day would be a good start.
