It exists in several forms.

There's conservative American exceptionalism which is the belief that the United States is the best country as it was and should go back to that. A lot of times this comes with or in the form of racism.

There's a more modern form of American exceptionalism that is the belief that America has the potential to be the country it was promised to be (but not actually what it set out to be). The belief is that America isn't exceptional but that all of the values that we are told America is are good ones, even if we're not fulfilling them or doing the opposite.

Then there's those who think America's a dying shithole wasteland and that they wanna move to Canada/Europe/Australia/Japan.

You'll find a good amount of all three.

The United States is exceptional since it's the first country that was comprehensively organized and developed according to principles of enterprise/capital accumulation without an accompanying shared tribalist/religious identity. It dissolved the idea of a nation-state in the traditional sense more or less forever. The USA also has a disproportionate amount of economic power for this reason.
