Why is everything still so ugly?

it's been pretty close to a year since the last time i thought i gave enough of a shit about how this place looks to fight with the smf template system and make a bitchin forum theme for a community that gets maybe 5 posts (not counting bb10) on a really good day

if anyone else is more motivated than me to spend their time on that kind of project, i'd gladly try to upload and implement a finished forum theme, but i suspect most of the ones that already exist are similarly disappointing, and i really don't see myself rebuilding the .cc layout here in the near future

I mean considering this place gets like 3 posts a day, I guess there's no real need for it. I kept hearing some hushed whispers about an entirely new site that someone was working on or that piney or somebody had something in the works in terms of a theme or rebuilding of this site but idk. Obviously that was a while ago when I still cared.

The new site in question used to be hosted at this URL, but this got thrown up when the NG hosting of .cc came to its end. I'm pretty sure what was there barely functioned and went offline before .cc went down, but I was never in-the-know about all that stuff and therefore you shouldn't take my word for it at all.

there was a re-design being worked on from scratch, and once it was at a presentable state the plan was to transfer everything from .cc over, but .cc kept breaking, and we were bleeding users, and newgrounds was kind of giving us a ticking clock to get off their server
at some point after we ran out of people who both knew what they were doing and cared, vcr popped up like "i can copy everything to this simple machines forum" and he and sarez set it up on the .net url, aaaand it's looking like newgrounds quietly torpedoed the old site? not that we had a whole lot left there that was functional, but like... i got a copy of the registry backed up, from 2011, and i doubt that was the most updated version of the registry. although i guess clockpedia was unusuable for a good couple of years so maybe
