I mean I think they play it off much more like an actual sibling relationship in the game, granted it's definitely an unhealthy dependency for the majority of her social link but that's because of her messed up living situation.

I think he was just having fun with it.

That being said, Kirby is not that good in this game and I hate that he did him this way.

I haven't played persona 5 but the same people wrote Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse and holy shitting dickchariot nipples that game was bad. I guess they can't be blamed for it being the first game's map and dungeons in a slightly different order, that's the devs fault, but the writing shits on everything that made the original IV worthwhile and tried to make it more persona-ey. I kept playing it thinking it would pick up or at least add an original dungeon but it never does. and from what I've read of their additions to strange journey's remake they fucked that up too. it ruins every ending from the original and then adds it's own extra versions of said endings which are the "good" versions that imply the originals didn't mean shit. having the persona artist redraw all the character portraits was a real kick in the balls too.

I just can't give persona 5 a chance after all that. I have a sinking feeling that Shin Megami Tensei 5 is gonna take it further and just be Persona with demon recruitment and half P5's budget.

Persona 5, in terms of story, is relatively decent. I'd say it's at least more interesting than Persona 3 was. I can't speak for  Persona 4 because I still have yet to play through it even though it's widely considered to be the best in the series.

But for what it's worth, 5 was fun and if nothing else has really great style and music. You won't find another game like it.

It's definitely not as well written a game as P4, but its music is banging and it still hits that feeling of melancholy those games invoke.

Man I started watching that show just last week since this season of anime is complete garbage and Lain is like a crazy person.
