I think this is a little paranoid, just a little...

okay, very paranoid.

I showed my dad the movie and he thought it was supposed to be a comedy. When I told him it was supposed to be serious he just looked at me and stared.

This film was utter bullshit.

@whiteclock - there are plenty of logical reasons I could use, but I don't want to type them all out.

Here's one - steel begins to lose strength at 500 degrees, and the airliner exploded when it hit, which is > 500 degrees.

Quote from: WhiteClock;1240925As for religion, religion in itself is bullshit. But, if you can worship a fairytale, you can believe in this crappy film too.

I don't even know what's going on in this thread but you sound like such a dick.

I hate these amateurish sensationalist conspiracy movies, even if I probably agree with what the movie is saying (I'm still watching it)... That quote from George Carlin is great though.

LeekClock

I'm a little further into it now and all the sensationalist images have died down and he's actually giving some good information. This stuff about all the similarities between the sun-based religions is fascinating, as are the connections he is making between Christianity and the zodiac. I'm an atheist anyway so this stuff wasn't shocking to me, just very interesting.

My dad's friend told me its coming out in theaters. Man, imagine that.

Ya, I'm watching it again, and the beginning is a little  sensationalist, but even the parts about the wars and 9/11 aren't too over the top.

The only REALLY controversial topic they touch on is the Amero, and while I don't know everything about that, because ya know how can I, I find it hardly impossible.

Except that the zodiac thing is bullshit, because some of the stuff they cite was  written in the Torah, not the Bible, which came before the Zodiac. Also, at the beginning of the Common era, the zodiac had 18 symbols, not 12, thus completely fucking that argument. The sun based stuff is also I'm a edgy teen, because a lot of the information they give on other religious figures is incorrect. Furthermore, December 25th is the celebration of Jesus' birthday because the emperor wanted Christianity to become mainstream, so he held Christmas on the celebration of their sun God.

No man, the point is that its all one big rip off, does it really matter when stuff was made?

Er, not even a rip off, more like their versions of the same phenomenon.

edit: oo damn, the Christians did rip the Egyptians,

The Sun thing, no, that was made-up. Their "facts" are incorrect.

The Zodiac thing? The zodiac ripped off Judaism and Christianity, not the other way around.

Most of those connections are baseless and otherwise under faulty reasoning. It's as good as a neowitch worshipping every fire god in every religion as different names for the same fire god.

Also, get it right, people! Judaism is rooted in Zoroastrianism, not the ancient Egyptian religion! This is basic knowledge.

AMPEEEM

Quote from: Fizzgig;1246513It matters because it shows that a good number of the connections they make are faulty, superficial, poorly researched, and/or paranoid.

Well, the Egyptians came before the Christians, as did many of those other religions.

In other words, a rip off.

Why won´t people just call a spade a spade?

THE HELVETICA SCENARIO

Whoa this is ages old, I just skim-read some of the posts from before.
I seems like we (but mostly me) have made BlackBerry leave again.  The first was because he said he didn´t like the CC´s dark humour. (Or words close to that effect)  In actuality he was pissed off that a few of us simply were Atheists or trolled him.  When he left someone even commented it was only because we were Atheists.

He came back and got pissed off again after I dragged it for a long time taking it seriously (which everyone bit) and now I ain´t seen him.
It´s sad when Religion divides people.  Hope he comes back.
