¡¡¡Hooray, sources!!!

E-Dot:

Part 1: Religion, talks about the metaphorical nature of Jesus and how the died on the cross stuff and whatnot is a practically mematic sun god story. Sets up religion as a metaphor for blind faith.

Part 2: 9/11 WAS AN INSIDE JOB.

Pat 3: Bankers are taking over the U.S. and are going to tag you. You're going to let it happen, of course, because you're told you're going to get left behind and that it's for your own safety.

Come on! No posts?! This is right up our alley! Religion! Conspiracy!

I've watched this movie four times and I love it. I don't really know what to say about it but it really makes you think.
Christians are douped into believing a myth (Jesus Christ, a "Solar God", nothing more) created by the Roman government for thousands of years. That myth has been told year after year with the same motifs passed along dozens of times.

Not created, exploited. And just because the common knowledge part of the Christian religion is a time-worn metaphor doesn't mean none of the rest of it is important. One thing they glossed over was that the cross is a holy symbol for another reason, entirely separate from the Zodiac. The symbol is composed of the horizontal line, the symbol for Earth, and the vertical line, the symbol of the heavens, ergo a symbol for the unification of Heaven and Earth. That one's been around even longer than we formed the idea of the Zodiac, if you can believe it. One of the oldest and most basic symbols you can find in human history.

QuoteWhat is there to do? What can we do as an individual?

Mass civil disobedience. It's already being organized. The government can only do something if we let them. If the country shuts down, they control nothing. Basically, the country goes on strike. Target areas should be electrical grid employees. Even if too many people in a city chicken out, it won't matter, because if you shut down the electrical grid, you shut down the whole city, maybe even the state, depending on how your state does it's energy. [striken text] We just have to start trading again instead of relying on this cloth to which we have applied worth. Gold was worth something for a real reason. It actually has valuable and rare properties. So do diamonds, but they're only worth as much as they are because one family has a monopoly on the mines. Every diamond you buy goes through them. Really, there's no diamond shortage of any sort.

It wasn't anyone's symbol until Christianity, it was a torture device for god's sake. It was picked for that was the way in which the Son of Man died and took away the sins of the world. Also, Jesus tells that we must take up our own cross(hardships and the sort) and follow in his example of love to other people. It's got nothing to do with verts and horizons.

I mean, the books of the Gospel existed far before the Roman church ever started accepting the religion with Constantine, at that time they were still persecuting and killing them as a scapegoat like many did the Jews.

Don't be so arrogant. I'm talking before Judaism, even.

QuoteThe cross is one of the most ancient human symbols, and is used by many religions, most notably Christianity. It is frequently a representation of the division of the world into four elements (or cardinal points), or alternately as the union of the concepts of divinity, the vertical line, and the world, the horizontal line (Koch, 1955).

...Though I actually got that information from a book I have on symbology.

The government still uses it as a scapegoat to do all sorts of shit. The past determines the future.

I don't get what's so hard to believe about Jesus. Sure, the miracles and all that certainly aren't believable, but they're probably just an exaggeration due to his story being spread originally by word or what have you. Apart from that, he was a pretty normal, particularly kind guy preaching about being nice to your fellow man.

Leave the thread, kthnx. You have to watch a movie before your opinion of it is at all valid. I'd like to note the RealID thing isn't just a conspiracy, it's already been passed. It's not being VOTED ON on May 8th, it's GOING INTO EFFECT.

Quote from: William T. Sherman;880593I disagree. After watching 18 minutes of the first video I have found more outright lies than I can count (my first post disects the first 8 minutes). After seeing something THAT inaccurate and THAT contradictory, I see no reason to watch the others.

Yeah, it's anti-religious tomfoolery. But like I said in the first post, it's a metaphor for blind faith and otherwise has little relation to the other two. Also, it's not like the circle, because the cross is a symbol for the same thing with a shared etymology.

It may have had some sort of significance in other cultures, but what you don't seem to grasp is the way Jesus died as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins is why it is our symbol.

Nothing about lines, or suns, it is for this sole reason.

*sigh* I never said anything about that. Yes, I'm quite aware that Jesus was crucified. But the symbolism of the divine is still present.
