Don't randomly pick up an old guitar and start trying to play it if you don't normally play guitar (or have your fingers used to it). Now I have a blister on my right thumb and blisters on the 3 middle fingers of my left hand. Typing this hurt like shit.

Hahaha, the first day I took guitar class, I played too hard and the skin on my thumb got ripped off. It took forever too heal and hurt like a motherfucker.

At first it hurts then you get this thing on your fingers like skin thats really strong and then it wont hurt and its so awesome to play. I believe its called callouses or something like that
I remember that slicing pain when you would hold down the strings .. ugh that sucked

That would have only saved my right thumb. You can't use a pick when you put your left hand on the frets.

Also, I use my fingers for work (typing in shit all day). What am I going to do guys??

Your fingers should get used to that after a few months.

Even without callouses on your left hand holding down the strings shouldn't be that painful.

A bandaid let me type when I was missing that skin. Shouldn't be a problem.

I don't plan on (at the moment any ways) picking up the guitar and actually playing it. I was just goofing around when I got home from work. Atleast it wasn't my fingers on my right hand. That's what I use for work. Although right on my right thumb is where I usually hit the times button for counting the stuff. That might give me some trouble. Unless I got pop it. But that will hurt too. Damn, I suck.

It wasn't holding down of the fingers that was hurting. It is the after effects of holding down the strings. Also I type around 250 keys per minute so bandaids might mess up the accuracy. But as I said in the post just prior to this, the only finger affected for work is my right thumb. That doesn't hurt as much as the left fingers do. Just oddly annoying as I can feel the bump rub up against the keys.
