I have a few WoW questions

Now that I'm getting a stable/steady job, I'll have the money to be able to play WoW, but I have a few questions.

Before any of you go "NO DON'T PLAY IT!" Keep in mind I've been a warcraft fan since the first warcraft game, so I'd like to be able to continue the story, and from what I've played, WoW does seem like a fun game.

Okay, here are my few questions.

I was looking on the WoW site and say that the activation fee for my trial account will be $20, 'with a monthly subscription fee.' but it doesn't say what that monthly fee is. Is it $15, $10, or what?

I was researching good character builds on WoWwiki.com, and the warlock build I want to use has a first stage build, and a final build. These builds have two completely different skill assignments, so how do I reset/change my skills in game?

I was playing my two-hander Tauren when after looking at my skill build I want to use, the first skills I need are Deflection, Iron Will, and Improved Overpower, Cruelty, Unbridled Wrath, and Piercing Howl. I can't find any of them at the warrior trainer in Bloodhoof village. Are there other skills that I need first that aren't listed on this talent calculator?

Is there any way to bring up quest locations on your map, or do you just have to find them?

Since there are skill builds based purely for them, I got curious as to what 'raids' actually are. Please explain.

Is there a CC WoW guild? If so, what server are the WoW Clocks on?

WiiClock

I play on Darkspear currently, I think Coal still plays, not sure who else here plays.

What you want to do is get the 10 day free trial, play for 10 days, get a feel for the game. Then go buy the WoW battle chest, this comes with a guide, vanilla WoW, and TBC expansion.

Also, as a warlock using both of those spec, you will still be using the same abilities and skills. The way the skills are set in WoW, you can click and drag, and you can also set key bindings. It's all a really simple interface which you can modify later on.

The monthly fee is $15.

Raids, haha. 10 to 25 to 40 man raids.
I'm sure if you've played any type of MMO or whatever, you have your tanks, your healers and then your DPS.
Warlocks are DPS and in some fights they will tank.
A raid is basically you and 24 other nerds going through an instance killing bosses and collecting loot.
Really simple fights, WoW has to be one of the easiest games to learn.
Just takes a while to get good at.

Any more questions?
HELLO EVERYONE.

Slash

I didn't read anything of what you just wrote, But the fact you have to pay for a game that you allready own just to play it should say enough.

I already am on my 10 day free trial, I have about a week left.

But the points are applied to completely different skills! I was wondering how he was able to pull those points out of affliction and apply them to his demonology skills.

Ouch. Oh well, I can deal with that.

Floppy plays on EU servers, I believe. As with Calamity.

Affliction is all about your damage over time spells (Dots). Demo is all about buffing your pet. For affliction, you'll have out your voidwalker which is this big blue thing that will tank your mobs. For demo, you'll have out your felguard which is pretty much a warrior that follows you around. You'll still be using the same basic cycle of Corruption -> Immolate -> Curse of Agony.

Warrior question... Oh yes, the trainers in the starting areas will only teach you abilities up to level6. Try talking to the warrior trainer in Thunder Bluff. It's in Mulgore, just up north a bit. You get new abilities every 2 levels.

I'm willing to pay, since I've loved the warcraft series since the first warcraft game.

Yes, I understand that part, but it recommends starting with the voidwalker build then switching to the felguard build. That's what I was confused about, how people switched their points out of their affliction spells and into their demonology spells.

Do I need any of the weaker abilities to get those stronger ones or can I just wait on using my points and go right for the stronger ones?

What realm are you currently playing on Sobe?
HELLO EVERYONE.

Suit yourself, it's not my money.

Korialstrasz. It's where most of the people at my school play.

that game isn't as fun as you think, it's addictive, not fun; it's also monumentally expensive, it's best if you just play warcraft III, WoW is not worth the storyline.

This is the impression I got from it.

yinyangclock

people that say it's not worth it because of the price...ignore them
think about it in terms of 'hours of entertainment per $ spent'
i spend £9 a month on WoW, and i get at least a couple of hours a day entertainment out of it.
if i go to the cinema, that's at least £10 for 2 hours entertainment.
if i go out for the evening, i'll spend like £30 on one night.

you can reset your talents at your trainer, it costs 1G at first, then 5G and then it increases by 5G each time to a maximum of 15G (i think), but it goes down by 5G for every month you go without re-speccing.
there's a mod called questhelper that'll show all the quest locations on your map, it's so so useful.
raids are explained here: http://www.wowwiki.com/Raid

i play on a PvE server, arathor, alliance.

Yeah, that was sort of the way I was thinking of it too.

Also, ouch, that's going to cost a hell of a lot of gold to switch from the first build to the second then, eh?

D:

nah it resets them all to be placed however you want, so if it's the first time it'll only be 1G, or 5, or 10, or 15. not much at all.

coalclock

£9 a month is fuck all, I throw that away on those pub quiz games in one night.

EDIT:
Download this

It is really handy for installing and keeping track of mods and macros.

You play on EU servers though, right?

bleh, it goes up to 50g btw.
Sobe, gold comes pretty easily in the game, and as a warlock you don't have to pay for your first mount which is a nice 90g saved.
