Stay out of it, it's not really any of your business. I myself couldn't live with that moral shadow the rest of my life, even if it's the right thing. He messed up once, it's no reason to ruin his life.

QuoteWell since then I've found the damned thing on somebody else's Deviantart, as well as two other Illustrations he stole from another artists.
It would seem that he did it more than once.

Bigglesnoots

he could be ruining those other lives too.

just send the email already

Oh damn, must have missed that part. Yeah, the dilema's much more clear now. Still though, a typed note telling the kid to stop stealing should shake him up a bit to stop.

Bigglesnoots

hey here's an idea. contact the people he stole from and let them fight it out.

I thought of that too, but it's quite likely that he'll just find other resources.

If he was in my class I would point it out, of course, I thought we were talking about the guy in FU's. edit: geez, I'm an idiot. I would mind if someone put my stuff on Newgrounds again, yeah, but I don't think it's comparable to this: in this situation the artist this student is ripping off doesn't even know about it, and never will. It would only be comparable if this student was stealing FU's artwork.

I think people are overreacting, cheats never prosper and if he gets a good grade then so what? He will either be a success of his own merit or, more likely, will fail because he's no good. Ratting him out to the teacher is just a jerky thing to do, there's no victim except himself. It's not your moral obligation to get involved in something like this.

Saying that the artist will never find out is bullshit, because any one of us could tell him at any point. If he gets a good grade, that just tells him that what he's doing is okay, and that he can keep doing it all he wants. He's going to keep stealing work if he doesn't learn that it's wrong.

CrustClock

he can't steal people's work forever, that's exactly what I'm saying.

Quote from: F U Clock;1306108Alright, so there's a dude in my graphic design and illustration class named Fernandooo. Anyways, he's really good with Adobe Illustrator and comes up with all this cool shit. I first noticed the oddities when he was showing an assignment to my teacher. I noticed it was pixelated when he zoomed in, and since it's a vector program that's... odd, unless he was putting it online for some reason. Also, it was named Blablabla_by_Blablabla, the second being a person's online name that was not his. Also, it was saved in his Research folder on his flash drive.
Alright alright, flash forward, and skip a few weird things, I see him open up a thing from his Flash drive, and start to trace it in Illustrator. The next day, he turns in almost the same fucking image as the one he was tracing for the assignment. Not only that, he opens the original and claims he made that too. Well since then I've found the damned thing on somebody else's Deviantart, as well as two other Illustrations he stole from another artists. What should I do about this? I don't really want to talk to him about it, because there'd be no easy way to say that I've been covering your tracks and you're a fucking thief. But also if I tell my teachers he will be expelled from College, and it may ruin his whole life. What the fuck.

Tell that bitch to get out, that'll show him fot stealing other people good/bad work.

I actually like the idea of alerting the artist and giving him either Fernando's e-mail or my teacher's. I have no like, pictures of his work, but I could let him know, then it'd be up to him.

Do you know the other people's Deviant accounts though? Since she's so proud of her student, show him the punishment he gets in college for stealing it. Just send her an anonymous email of the links. If she's so proud thinking it's his work, she'll recognize it and he'll get the punishment.

Yeah I know I'm just saying I don't necessarily want to be the one who has to deal with the moral issue of contacting the teacher, so I could just let the artist who made the work decide what to do. Then again, it'd still be me contacting the artist, so I should just cut out the middle man and tell her myself. But whoever said I had to behave rationally.
