This thread has two purposes.
One: What do you think of one of my favorite quick drawings, namely why I'm calling it a sketch (Took maybe an hour)? I had submitted it for my final portfolio in my art class, but I want to know what you guys think. It's fully blue ink, no pencil.
Two: To keep my mind off of people wanting me to draw Calla Lilies, flowers that look oddly like vaginas.

FluxCapacitorClock

I like the position/angle you drew it in. Makes me think it's a bird's eye view of it about to jump.

Looks rather nice however you should try to spice the background up a tad or maybe give it a shadow onto the white paper to make it seem more life like. :tophat:

TeddyBear

If I do too much to the background you lose the fish, I tried it in a copy of the picture and it has to be very carefully done.

Thank you Fluxy by the way.

INoodleClock

Very good, the tail fin is spot on. I know exactly what you mean with the floral vaginas. Somewhere I have some oriental images, perfect for drawing things such as your fish - when I get home I'll upload. Try some dragons next!

i really really do like it. but if you could add some color and a background (using : paint or pastels) that would be something you've got there.

you have a talent for art. hope you keep getting better.

That looks like two flowers getting ready to fuck.

What about watercolors or highly watered down gouache? Could those work do you think?

sure. whatever is best for you. The only reason i suggested pastels or paint was because most people can work great with those. but if you're good with that go ahead

I just figured that something like Acrylic would be too heavy.

I'll mess around with it, see what I get.

Also, I will attempt drawing a dragon.

i suppose it would be easier mixing/blending colors with water color. also it might ring out that water texture look you might be going for.

acrylic is half technique and half trick, mixing acrylic and water is one of the steps for better technique.

Not too much water though, it'll end up too thin if you do that.

I also have a ton of watercolor and gouache, not a ton of acrylic, no oils. I hate oil paint.

really? i love oil paint. if im trying to set a fall sort of theme i will use oil paint.

I think it's pretty, I'm just allergic to Linseed Oil and turpentine, so I can't use it unless I want to suffer through migraines.

wow. thats a setback. but you can still make a really in-depth painting without oil.

TeddyBear

Yeah, when my digital camera's batteries decide they want to charge I'll have to take some pictures of stuff I've done. I don't have a lot of my paintings with meanings on my computer presently, all I have is an abstract piece I did with watercolors and that fish, plus some pictures of calla lilies I'm working on.

Solenoidclock

Don't let chemical reactions set you off oils. I've taken to wearing a respirator when I paint, but that's mainly because I do a lot of spraypainting and it's practically required that I have some form of respiratory shielding. Not that you'd need oils; you look to be doing fine with just a pen. That fish is fantastic. :)

You're right about the flowers pecan posted by the way, they're from an a flower-fuck trippy animated sequence from the Pink Floyd movie The Wall. I highly recommend it if you're a fan of their music.

have you ever considered doing those fuck-up drawings where it's a duck and a rabbit at the same time?
