what were 02/03/04 like? 05 was the first time that we really made a splash, from what I've heard.

I don't know about '02, but '03 was the shit for its time. I can't remember much from '04, except that I designed the preloader, and it was by a wide margin the most comically inept of all the Clock Day preloaders.

Also keep in mind clockcrew.cc went offline on the 8th of August that year, so Clock Day was a bit like playing baseball after 9/11.

And if by "splash" you mean all the enormous twat douchebags on Newgrounds started using our day to force their shit through the portal yeah 2005 was certainly a fucking splash.
But in 03 and 04 we'd garnered a reputation as some of the best animators on Newgrounds. They loved our shit.
And 2003 is when Tom started making the annual front page posts. I think he was out of town in 2004, and then in 2005 he was like "HERE'S ALL MY MONEY LOL."

05 was what entirely formed this current clock crew. It was the best year, but that probably has something to do with the fact that it was really such a nice surprise.

Yes and no. Last year was better IMO, but this year there were a couple of very good movies. But the number of movies is decreasing every year.

Actually, I wasn't. Strange, Knight, and Renegade disafuckingppeared, there was no sign of Bananabeard 3, Kill Carrot, The Void III, or any of the other Duke Nukem Forever-like clock flashes that I eagerly hope for, and once again we failed to do anything about the "everything passes" bullshit that apparently everybody is now convinced is tradition.
I was fully expecting the worst clockday evar.

I was pleasantly surprised at Renegade's resurfacing, and ZombieLincoln, Munglai, and Archon's flashes, and that funny little ELO piece by a non-clock on the front page. It's also reassuring that, in the aftermath, people are finally realizing Clock Day should be a million times cooler than it has been, and what's more are planning on doing something about it.

Well I really can't say because this was my first Clock Day in the crew but I can say that there were only a handful of really outstanding submissions.

It was a bit lackluster. Not too many big movies this year. I think you're right about needing to stop people from flooding the portal with shit, Slurpee. I know I wouldn't want to submit a movie that I spent a lot of time on just to have it buried under a mountain of dross, which is probably part of the reason that there were less this year.

Anyway, there are still a few movies I haven't seen so I guess I've got a bit more to watch before I can make any real comparison to former clock days.
