I got a ton of gift cards to target so I went there and bought a psp! It came with a Ratchet game, National Treasure 2, and, a certificate to download some illusion/puzzle game. It's still charging now  but, it seems fuckin awesome.

 Whatever happened to the PSP? The device that Sony once touted as "the Walkman for the 21st century" is fast disappearing from popular consciousness, and if you believe the rumors circulating just three-and-a-half years after its launch, it's up for a major rethink in 2009.

Over the crucial month of November, the Nintendo DS shifted a jaw-dropping 1.5 million units in the US alone (up 20% from last year) while the PSP languished, managing just 421,000 sales -- actually down 27%, in what was in general a tremendously strong month for video games.

Even the software support is eroding. Despite the PSP's healthy install base of around 13 million consumers, only six 2008 PSP releases scored better than 80% on review aggregating site gamerankings.com, compared with 16 on the DS. There's a good reason for that: nobody's making PSP games, because outside of one or two hits like this year's Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, nobody's buying them. That's only going to worsen when the superheavyweight Grand Theft Auto series (previously exclusive to the PSP on handhelds) releases its first DS title early next year.

Pretty much all of Sony's advertising is pretentious as hell. The only one I liked at all was one where the PS3 had stuff growing out of it. It was pretty cool.

lol yeah the DS is over rated. not the psp which many people bought at release and promptly left to gather dust when they realized there were no good games for the thing. that on top of horrible loading times pretty much says stay away to me.

The PSP is the worst fingerprint magnet ever spawned, and the battery doesn't last too long, still, doesn't mean you can't enjoy it. Get Mega Man Powered Up, it's a wonderful remake.

DS is always the best thing for a portable, their library come from descent casual games that can be played in bits to really quality core games.

for the longest time i was only ever interested in the DS, and only grudgingly bought a PSP when I found out I was going to be working on a game for the system.

....now I have a real hard time playing the DS at all. The DS screens just seem super tiny in comparison, the stylus is cool but cramps your hands and is not essential for most games (and especially most portable games i care about, puzzle and turn based strategy games), and the PSP already allows you to download games onto its system very fluidly, which allows me not to have to hunt down cartridges so much, just take a couple UMD's and then have 8+ downloaded games with me at all times.

Now I just really want as many games as possible to be released on PSN. I still need the DS for Yoshi's Island, but that's pretty much it.

Which is why it sucks so much that so many developers are bailing out of making games for the system.
