How do I draw nice-looking clockfaces in flash?

I'd really like to know how to make pretty clockfaces because I'm starting to get tired of copying-and-pasting the them from other clocks' .fla files. And when I draw them myself, they look like rubbish. I read this tutorial on making clockfaces on Clockopedia, but I can't understand it because it reads like it's supposed to have pictures but there aren't any pictures. So what should I do?

practice makes perfect. you need to get comfortable with a style. if your style is the pixel look then try to perfect that style. you'll get better over time.

You could always trace a real clock face, something old and ornate and give it some nice gradients/shading. Oooor even just use a transparent .gif of a real face.

You still need to be able to do that to make the mask shape. You can either use that mask or continue from there with CGC's tutorial to give it a rim as well.

I always made masks using a circle the same size as the clock



blue = mask
red = DELETE

then motion tween'd it up for happy
