Hahaha. That's actually pretty on the money- the reason the comics were created was to manufacture crossovers between characters, and introduce readers of one series to other, different ones.
With Batman's BatB, Batman is obviously a very popular, recognizable characters, and the series was used to showcase the dynamics between him and the DC universe at large, as well as to expose readers to characters they might not really care about, but aren't necessarily turned off to.

The Superman radio plays developed most of what Superman, as an icon, consists of.
Everything from "faster than a speeding to bullet," to flying, to kryptonite, to Jimmy Olsen and Perry White came from the radio plays, and were incorporated into the comics and everything else later.

I don't know why so many people who otherwise hate Superman get the vapors over that book. Aside from Lex Luthor's 40 megaton ownage in letter form, it wasn't much of a narrative. Kingdom Come was way better.

For that matter, I don't understand the hate for Supes. He's awesome. I think alot of people don't really give Superman a chance.

StrawberryLock is TJ32 from the Newgrounds chat. From what I understand he completely divorced himself from the Lock Legion in its current state and wants nothing to do with it. Lock Legion was a Blam Club thing more than a Newgrounds thing. It was treated in a mock serious manner on the Clock Crew website. (I think Onion made a front page post about it.)

Banana was one of I think 4 mods for the video game forum on the old clockcrew.cc, and after bragging to Zeffy over AIM about getting modded even though she said he wouldn't, he was demodded and he got pissed and left. He went to the Lock Legion.
edit: Actually, I think Banana maintains that he wasn't "bragging," and his demodding was complete bullshit, and that he never really left the Clock Crew for the Lock Legion.

Lock Legion wasn't the first Clock Crew rival gang. I'm pretty sure that honor belongs to Hook's Crew.

This is where my memory gets fuzzy, because it's where the lock legion starts getting dumb and I stop caring.
After Banana jumped ship, that's when guys like Burrito and Nullzilla started showing up. Trash jumped ship, NuclearBombClock became mp3lock.
It kind of floundered, until the incident with Pinty and frogbag and clockcrew.cc going down in august 2003, because somebody linked to the Lock Legion website as an alternative to the, uh... deceased Clock Crew. Around that time, the original members of the Lock Legion started leaving in droves, saying Banana was messing up a good joke, and Banana saying he took a joke group and turned it into a powerhouse flash group to match the Clock Crew.

There was some drama and power shifts, but I think that's the gist of it.

Not very good at all, I'm afraid, no.
For example there were no sound effects. I mean, there were, but only sometimes. I understand that in a collaboration there's going to be some natural incongruity, but whoever organized this should have instituted some standards and practices to qualify for entry.
With a series as linear as Madness, where every entry has extremely similar themes of over-the-top violence, and since they're all presented in roughly the same manner, a collaboration of people who've taken the time to learn and understand Flash should be more capable of stringing a series of individually made clips together, if not necessarily with an overarching plot, than at least with some manner of timing and theme. Instead, the clips are thrown in haphazardly, building to a notably short, unimpressive closing. As a matter of fact, many clips fail to even maintain a sense of theme in and of themselves- bouncing wildly from senseless violence, to slapstick humor, and back, with abandon, and one is left to wonder why such entries were included in such radical abundance.
Though the presentation of the collaboration, including the thoughtful inclusion of entertainment in the preloader, and the stylistic menu design, show touches of class, the heart and soul of the flash is a bland, ill-conceived cobbling together of below-mediocre flashes whose relation to each other is only their ties to a series which the majority of the creators have failed, colossally, to demonstrate thematic adherence or understanding to.

Clock Crew was one of the first amatuer flash groups. Sure, a seperate BBS seems manifest now, but even today the majority of Newgrounds clans operate out of the Newgrounds BBS. In it's early days, the Lock Legion did imitate the scale of the Clock Crew, including the seperate, large-scale website, with it's own bbs.

It was pretty much tooled up to be a Clock Crew replacement group, especially after ClockCrew.cc went down and everyone was saying the Clock Crew was dead.
I remember this because Banana tried to recruit me over AIM.
