just beat shovel knight king of cards. six years and they're only just now done adding shit to it. I paid 7 bucks for this on 3ds years ago and it keeps updating for free. and even though it's a dead console, the amount of work they put into the stereoscopic 3d is astounding. and they've improved on it since the previous campaigns. I can't imagine playing it any other way. The backgrounds feel like they were designed for this to begin with.  it's weird how the most eyepopping use of the effect was in pixel graphics. sega 3d classics, cave story, previous shovel knight campaigns, etc. parallax scrolling in 3d is just WOAH. I wish there was a proper homebrew community for 3ds. imagine a 3DS emulator for virtual boy and the few 3d nes and master system games they made. but considering nintendo STILL updates the console to this day explicitly to block that, I think interest in that is about gone now.

but yeah, great game. compared to the sweetness of plague of shadows or the sadness of specter of torment, this one is just balls out hilarious and endearing. but with how endearing king knight is, you get sucked into rooting for him just like everyone else on his airship. even with plenty of evidence during, and later in other campaigns, that he's clearly not a good dude. at least the player doesn't pay the price for that like the others do. the player gets a cool ending cut scene and a congratulations screen for beating all the campaigns. everybody else gets fucked. the major point of the story seems to be that trying to see the best in people isn't always the best choice. "I hope you got what you wanted".
