I'm genuinely surprised to have such good news about smt. best game gets a competent remaster (unlike strange journey ) and we get a return to form for the main series (after the trashfire that was apocalypse ).  I'll have to finally get through the SNES games before the new one comes out. 1 2 if and the majin tensei games are all translated at this point. no reason not to tackle them. at LEAST 1 and 2.

also looking forward to a new generation of matador memes when the nocturne remaster is out

I like how in wind waker he's lived long enough at that point to have developed more complicated feelings on life than "fuck link zelda and hyrule in general I mean seriously". it wasn't some big long monologue, just an short pre-boss fight comment as he looks wistfully off into the distance, and that's all it needed to be.

It was my understanding that in the DKC canon, Donkey Kong of arcade fame becomes Cranky Kong while Donkey Kong Jr becomes the tie wearing ape we know and love

the only reason I've played Donkey Kong Jr is because it came with the ereader or some other promo shit

we're talking being able to load external data, as long as it's approximately the size of an NES game, onto basically the last word in handheld entertainment before it got too sophisticated for AA batteries

I'm just saying, alternate universe where Nintendo is ok with homebrew, and anyone inclined to hack on a virtual NES with enough dough to print a trading card could have become an indie game studio

it's a deliberate corporate-led shift and no one can tell me otherwise

the same people that profit from tv and radio being undemocratic formats profit from the internet and games being obfuscationally complex

you used to be able to do that with games, too. games coded in BASIC usually ran through an interpreter and you could just open the source code and change whatever you wanted, it rules (though I understand why that changed )
