OH YEAH I'LL JUST DRAW A FACE CONSISTENTLY FROM PANEL TO PANEL AND COMPLETELY CHANGE THE EXPRESSION BY SLIGHTLY ALTERING ONE LINE, NO BIG DEAL
<Marlin Clock> This thread seems proof positive that divisiveness at any level is usually bad for the Clock Crew.
<PhantomCatClock> are we talking about the same clock crew

So I got a pack of ZooPals at a local grocery store and left it in the drawer to annoy Roommate

he didn't find them yet but we saw a 90'S / 2000's COMMERCIAL COMPILATION on youtube and zoopals showed up

I pulled em out, went "heh, look! The one on top is the exact same print of that frog in the grainy VHS transfer. Wouldn't it be funny if this pack I bought had been sitting there since 1996?"

"HEY SIRI, DO THEY STILL MAKE ZOO PALS?"

'Zoo Pals were discontinued in 2014'

check ebay, they're $27 for a pack

that's going next to the When He Dies champagne 😽👌 :25kbeer:

two of my characteristics:
1) knows a lot about a bunch of random crap
2) uses em dashes
are now broadly associated with a.i. generated responses, and it hurts my feelings. I've stopped using em dashes and I miss them every day. truly I am the biggest victim of a.i. proliferation

Slurpee

more accurately, I've stopped using en dashes incorrectly as em dashes

did you guys know h doesn't exist?

it's an illusion

if you try saying it without a vowel, you just end up with an unarticulated huff of air
you might default to a voiceless glottal fricative, which is what we call it, but that's a mouth-shape you never actually have to use to articulate it in a word

try saying "he"
you don't have to move your lips, tongue, or jaw to go from the h to the e, it just stays in the long "e" shape
you can do the same with "ho" "ha" "heh" and "huh"
"hi" is a little funny because it's a diphthong, but it's the same sequence of mouth shapes as "eye"
Quote[h and ɦ] have been described as voiceless or breathy voiced counterparts of the vowels that follow them [but] the shape of the vocal tract [...] is often simply that of the surrounding sounds. [...] Accordingly, in such cases it is more appropriate to regard h and ɦ as segments that have only a laryngeal specification, and are unmarked for all other features.
h always takes the form of an unvoiced version of the vowel that immediately follows it. it sort of "lives" in the throat- the mouth articulation mimics the vowel that follows, but the larynx doesn't vibrate. since the english language doesn't have whispered vowels as phonemes, h can comprise a cluster of unique sounds that we "hear" as a consonant. together they act as a consonant, but have none of the defining features of a consonant. it's not one sound, it's any result of the process of stripping voicing from a vowel-shaped articulation to form a voiceless interval before a vowel

that's not the insane part, though
the insane part is, up there, where it says "h and ɦ"? ɦ is the voiced glottal fricative
it's the voiced version of inserting an unvoiced version of the vowel that immediately follows it
what does that mean?
I don't fucking know. it should be gibberish. the wikipedia page is like the explanation equivalent of breaking even
QuoteA voiced glottal fricative, sometimes called a breathy-voiced glottal transition, is a type of sound used in some spoken languages which patterns like a fricative or approximant consonant phonologically, but often lacks the usual phonetic characteristics of a consonant. The symbol in the International Phonetic Alphabet that represents this sound is ⟨ɦ⟩.

In many languages, /ɦ/ has no inherent place or manner of articulation. Thus, it has been described as a breathy-voiced counterpart of the following vowel from a phonetic point of view. However, its characteristics are also influenced by the preceding vowels and whatever other sounds surround it. Therefore, it can be described as a segment whose only consistent feature is its breathy voice phonation in such languages.
but it's... real, and exists. allegedly this is how australians pronounce the h in "behind"
this feels vaguely eldritch to me. it's just this sound that cannot possibly exist but exists and is already here, was here before you were born. what does it sound like? it sounds like /ɦ/.
the wikipedia page does have an audio sample but it sounds like... a stereotypical old money rich guy finally caught the sexy gnome that's been stealing his cucumbers and he's trying to say "aha!" but also express that he's a little horny? he's clearly trying to articulate an actual voiced glottal fricative, but as we've established that's not the sound we're actually talking about
I forget what my point was

I use double hyphens a lot and throw in the occasional – or –– knowing full well that the only people who will notice are the people who are in my same situation

also i use a lot of legacy media where those symbols either don't send, send as a space, or worse: send as a question mark, so i've been using the -- compromise my entire life anyway

PhantomCatClock

you're missing the flounderman renaissance

been following a really really long-term animation tutorial

been following this and other teachers for a few weeks and haven't touched a pencil once, much less opened flassh. these guys are hardcore, it's inspiring

Hey VCR if you try to log in on the forum index page you get an error. Don't know if thats been a known issue or not so heres me bringing it to attention.

Hope everyone's been well. It's been a good while since I animated anything but I have been making myself draw a fair bit and I just went about uploading the majority of my recent finished pieces to my non-clock Newgrounds account so if anyone would be so kind as to vote five, I've got a couple Lord of the Rings pieces up to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Fellowship movie. Particularly happy with this here drawing of Treebeard;

the clockcrew.net product team have successfully replicated your 'error'

best guess is it is the issue in this smf forums thread where maybe the software is bitching about whether or not there is a 'www' in the url. we acknowledge that navigating to forums from clockcrew.net landing adds a www

suggested server-side fix involves editing url rewrite rules in the .htaccess file. there is already a rewrite rule in there. don't really know if I can just add another rule or if I hafta modify whatever we've already got. don't want to get it wrong and somehow fuck the site up this evening
