the other takeaway from our brief investigation into this issue is that there's a button link to caliburger commented out in the homepage sourcecode. I've somehow gone years without knowing that

god bless u Weenie Roast :mexican:

Quote from: VCRClock on January 27, 2026, 07:57:07 PMsuggested server-side fix involves editing url rewrite rules in the .htaccess file. there is already a rewrite rule in there. don't really know if I can just add another rule or if I hafta modify whatever we've already got. don't want to get it wrong and somehow fuck the site up this evening

while you were playing around with that, i fifened EIGHT new rob arts

also you can change the a record to have www. redirect without having to mess with .htaccess

there's a way to do it with apache's sites-enabled confs too (i think that's how i do it, traditionally) but if you're worried about .htaccess breaking stuff, you ain't seen nothin' yet

PhantomCatClock

jambaclock made it into the Peanuts Reillustrated thing

we've been left behind on the road to greatness

VCRClock

if I were to order all of the contributions to Peanuts Reillustrated according to how much I liked them, Jamba's strip would be at least in the top 50%

a good cover song may demonstrate an understanding of, and faithfulness to, the original, but the result may not be preferable to listen to than the original
a great cover song adds to or transforms the original, such that the new idea or energy injected by the covering artist might make you want to specifically listen to their version for what they bring to it
a bad cover song fails to recognize or preserve what was cool about the original (and faithful covers by technically inept artists easily fall into this category)
a worse cover song adds/transforms in a way that actively works against whatever was cool about the original, like "why would you ever think that this treatment is what that perfectly good song needed"

there's a lot of "worse" in Peanuts Reillustrated, and honestly I'm kind of more mad at the people who draw crazy lines on a quiet strip (or who CAN'T FUCKING LETTER) than I am at the people who seem to not care about schulz except for the patty/marcie relationship

PhantomCatClock

would you say it's m.schultzing to his memory

VCRClock

no, actually

a couple of strips in there are pretty good, but dig this, hombre, the bad ones just underscore how good schulz was. even without his illustrations, his scripts don't fall flat. the artists whose art doesn't support the text make you feel what you're missing. even the guys trying to emulate schulz pretty tightly are usually falling short.

but mostly: spending your life doing decades of a critically acclaimed newspaper strip etc etc, and then having some 2026 mfs get the idea that it would be more entertaining if a bunch of randos from twitter drew it, is very charlie browncore. schulz is 'good grief'ing in his grave

haha, I don't think they were trying to show him up. They're putting their artistic energy into putting off his second death

reminder to myself to read and reapond to posts itt starting with missing the flounderman renaissance

PhantomCatClock

phonogralph seems to also be doing a flash flood, or at least started a series with timing that makes me think

PhantomCatClock

starting to suspect there was a flash flood agreed upon in the discord, because pannacotta, d.va, and redbook also had movies today

and radiotube had art but that's probably a coincidence

PannacottaClock

there wasn't an agreed upon flash flood but i decided to do it spontaneously when i saw that it's the 25th year of this

too bad i will be too busy playing mewgenics to finish it

i've never had this thought before and neither has anyone else so i am a real visionary when i say fuck adobe

Quote from: RobClock on February 02, 2026, 03:39:59 PMhttps://helpx.adobe.com/animate/kb/end-of-life.html

Adobe is discontinuing animate
they haven't done a damn thing worth calling a new version since cs3 anyway. useless waterhead fuckaround of a company
what have they changed in the last 20 years? added svg and html5 export and removed all legacy features and permanent licensing. OH GOOOOOOD FOR YOOOOOUUUU. AND HOW WAS IT?

GIVE ME A FUCKING ANSWER

seriously adobe me and you man we're fucking done professionally
and what did they add before that? oh, they made actionscript strongly typed and unable to directly interact with objects defined outside of the code?

oh, it's a product that's existed for more than 25 years now, adobe? is it? is it really? that's so weird, I can't find adobe animate 2004, there's just this weird thing called "macromedia flash" that supports an intuitive and human readable scripting language that works with clear and intuitive authoring canvas of the stage and timeline instead of requiring you to first create a class heirarchy and event listener, that's so weird, I wonder what this mysterious fully functional product is and what happened to it

PhantomCatClock

adobe is the reason i use linux

like, i have a million more reasons to never switch back, but they fucked it so bad that the only software i've paid for in the last fifteen years is games

PhantomCatClock

no, wait, i bought a ipad app
