if you asked me to guess which three characters were named as examples of members of The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, I would probably get to Unus the Untouchable before I even remotely remembered The Vanisher exists, let alone guessed he was on the team (?????)

glancing at wikipedia it looks like it happened in a single issue of The Champions in 1978

you know what that means?
it means The Vanisher is gonna be in this comic. he fucking better be. the only reasons to do this would be
1) to remind you The Vanisher exists so it's less jarring when he shows up later
2) the artist just really likes drawing The Vanisher
and I'm sorry but if it's #2 draw him on your own time, that's so confusing

huh. that is close though. like the lines are different but fundamentally they're both doing a humphrey bogart
AND BOTH THOSE CHARACTERS ARE NAMED "MAGNUS"

I wonder about that classic comics style... well I mean there's a lot of variations to it, a john romita sr. drawing does not look like a jack kirby drawing does not look like a steve ditko drawing, but somewhere in the space between there is this sort of Human Man Face drawing style where everybody looks a bit like rex morgan m.d.
I wonder where it comes from (besides print limitations)?
or I guess more pertinently, is there a reason these drawings just kinda look like each other? even though the magneto is by kerry gammill and the will magnus is by dale eagle-sham. is it sort of a "stock expression" everybody learns and pros go to by default when they're working on a tight deadline?

the magneto page is from Fallen Angels, which is not exactly a famous comic book series, and definitely not in 2006 when 52 was drawn and published. it was an 80's series that nobody really got what it was doing and it was cancelled after 8 issues but it later saw a bit of critical reevaluation once people realized it was the way that it was on purpose

If I launch a racing game and there's a Steam warning that I should be using a controller, I have successfully been warned that it expects analog input for the accelerator! 
 
If I launch a platformer--or worse, a shooter--and get that, I have been warned that the devs suck at video games

but the theremin controller is literally the only thing that makes my game different from any other generic FPS
