So Matt Groening is apparently doing a new show exclusively for Netflix

Sources: semi-trustworthy looking article that said that but didn't know what it was or even what it was about

RobClock

thats been in the works for ages now im pretty sure unless they actually made a proper new announcement teasing it in which case it would be actually be pretty exciting news

Oh man but what voice could they use that wouldn't ruin the character?

Slurpee

I worry that Groening will demystify himself as George Lucas and George Romero did before him.

otoh, he is not named George.

Yeah I've looked at making a tumblr a few times but I can't understand it. It seems really difficult to navigate, organize, or communicate through. I can hardly believe it's become this huge social media platform.
it's just a huge vertical column of all the posts from whatever blogs you follow in chronological order from most recent into the indefinite past. you follow people if you want to see updates from them, follow hashtags for posts by people you don't follow to find more people to follow, or check people's subdomain to see just their stuff.

it's like facebook, really, except there's no difference between a personal page and a content page, and also you can customize your subdomain to make it ugly, noisy, and difficult to navigate

I still go to Tumblr to follow, like, three or four artists who, I like their art and I also like their headspace, so if/when they just spill their brains onto their blog I still find it interesting

yes but this is his third animated series. remember mike judge's third animated series?

I think I've linked to this person before and nobody cared then either but they're just the best and I love them, whoever they are: http://hospitalvespers.tumblr.com/
I'm sure it's weird to be a fan of just sort of, the social media presence of some person I don't know, but I really can't help it, their tumblr is this constant stream of vibrant ideas and suggestions of stories that haven't quite been told yet about swamp monsters and ancient bird people and war and disease and coping and loss, and also they all occupy a shared universe like quentin tarantino movies just because cool

OH! and there's this dragon? who's super chill and he's a demigod of plant life, and also he runs a lamp store, but he's not very good at either of those. which... that speaks to me, for some reason?

his name is farley look at him he's the best

they also do fanart but it's almost always of something I also like, like overwatch or jojo, and they're always fans of things for insanely great reasons, like they like Saint's Row because the characters are all such good friends, and they like cm punk because "he looks like wolverine and abraham lincoln had a beefy baby".

anyway that's the kind of thing I go to tumblr for, see ya

that is definitely a real concern. i think groening himself would have to voice binky.

i mean Life in hell definitely lost its edge in its later years but i still enjoy those strips. I think at the heart of any creator is a specific outlook or worldview and that's where we derive our outlooks/observations and develop jokes, and when your outlook is the one in the majority its hard to have any kind of edge in presenting yourself. Like, what im think im driving at is that Groenings style of comedy has shaped not just animation but all of popular culture in such a way that it'd be impossible for anything he were to make to be in any way remarkable at this stage. Not to say it'd be some disastrous mess like what Lucas or Romero ended up doing in the 00s... just kind of bland. I'd probably still like it though who knows

I would want the guy who voiced Dilbert in the Dilbert animated series to voice both Akbar and Jeff with absolutely no variation of voice or intonation between the two

well, i always liked matt groening's cartoons, and they were always funny, so im sure that (even in worse-case-scenario), his new cartoon will be at least watchable+pretty cool...

but groening (almost) always makes great stuff, so im sure that it will be a nicely organised+funny cartoon.

as for mike judge's ''the goode family'', yes, its corny, and it might be a bit ''off'', but i still got a few (awkward) chuckles out of it, so perhaps its not THAT bad...

i mean, the guy created beavis+butthead, so it can't be very bad, and he has created some cool stuff.
also no, i havent watched ''king of the hill'' yet, but im curious. is it good? should i watch it?

@slurpee: wow man, those are some really cool drawings, and this is a nice tumblr art profile... good job!
(usually tumblr has many SJW's/morons/drama queens in there, so seeing a good artist like your friend is a breath of fresh air...)
the only problem is: will i survive from my e-trip to tumblr? only B knows.
