oh man I read the sonic archie comics and after a while it turned into god awful soap opera bullshit. worse than any fan stuff afterwards, because this was the dark mold all further horrors were cast from. like, that was the whole comic after a while no robotnik or the other guy they fought in the comics unless it was just a vehicle for more bad soap opera shit. sometimes archie would go into soap opera bullshit but they would publish different digests for serious archie or jughead eats hamburgers archie. here it just sorta took over. I think the guy behind that got fired and tried to write his own books about his echidna fan characters. in fact I think I posted about that once and that might have been during the same line of conversation vcr posted his urkel conspiracy in, I'm pretty sure I remember that post too.

being set in some sort of realistic world never really felt like an issue with sonic adventure. the story is kinda corny but that's about it. and it's earnestly so, like a big dumb fun anime.

Yeah, I always found them to be a joke. I loved the irony of the them being watered down Beatles clones and then when being accused of it one of the dumbass brothers copied John's "bigger than Jesus" thing by claiming to be bigger than the Beatles. Dude. The point. You proved it.

there was a lot of genuine creativity and heart put into the SA games and they outright reveled in the cornyness in SA2. The gameplay had some quirks common to 3d gameplay at the time but they were trying so many new things to make it their big fuck you game for the then next generation that I could forgive six separate gameplay styles not being perfect. sonic heroes got rid of the kinks but also the character and creativity, I fell out of the 3D games after that.

I haven't read this anywhere (I haven't looked very hard) so I'm just going to post it here, so I can say I called it after GoT wraps up (or otherwise never refer to it again):
Everybody's going on about Cersei being the end boss and whatever, but I think she's going to be disposed of almost as quickly as the Night King. Daenerys is going to finish the job her father started and go full Mad Queen on King's Landing. After that, the final battle will be Jon v. Dany. Jon wil win, but at great cost to himself. For example: in a way he's already lost Sansa, she betrayed him by breaking her promise (Dead Ned is spinning...). Stuff like that, and DEATHSâ,,¢. Depending on how bleak they're willing to go, Jon will end up on the Iron Throne, but completely alone. Charged with rebuilding the realm from the literal and figurative ashes.

I mean, what's the alternative? Two extended episodes of fighting, and finally killing Cersei? Daenerys going: "Buildup aside, I'm not nuts after all! Let's deal with this Cersei woman amicably. Let's you and I become best, platonic friends and rule together, Jon-Boy." Or Jon going: "I know I was weirded out about boning you before auntie... but let's go for it!" Or "Okay Dany, you've got the Iron Throne. I'm going to fuck off back North, see you when I see you." Some aspects of what we've seen don't really add up to that though (Arya/The Hound/Jaime are all en route on missions), but ugh. Other aspects do (Sansa's actions/Tyrion's doubts/Varys' conviction). Although I guess Jaime could kill Cersei after she survives the inferno. Arya could kill Dany instead. Bran could've seen it all already and orchestrated the whole thing with Sansa. I don't know.
