Does a statement like this make them a "bad" person? Do five? Ten? A hundred?
kind of brings us to moral philosophy, which is a whole 'nother can of worms

but let me fill another square in my pretentious liberal bingo card by posting some david foster wallace

it's called intrusive thoughts. everybody gets them, as long as you don't act on them they are normal.

Great, now I have to go out and buy another book.

It's a very appropriate illustration. Flounderman's inner voices tell him to burn shit, yet he volunteers at a soup kitchen, he takes in stray dogs and nurses them on his own breast milk.

I've been struggling with certain questions myself lately. Largely to do with my outlook on life. I guess I'd consider myself an existential nihilist, but I find it difficult to reconcile that with my emotions, on a very basic level. I'm not a sociopath or a machine, I can't switch off my feelings and they seem very real to me. Even if they're inconsequential (which I certainly accept on a macro scale), they matter to me in the moment. (Although I guess I don't necessarily prefer say happiness over sadness. Both just happen, both are just a state of being, everything will pass. I've used this imagery before, but the concept of death as a sort of infinite void is like a warm blanket in that sense.) So taking what's in brackets to the forefront, and taking into account the o so edgy nihilism, you might say: whatever happens, happens. "You" are here, just go with it, free will whatever, just take it all in like a movie or a ride on a waterslide and when it ends, it ends. Don't think about it too much, just be. Although that's also a difficult switch to find. I feel like I haven't read enough or am not smart enough to come to any real conclusions or to truly accept whatever that is, for what it is. I'm just floating in purgatory. (As in, smart enough to locate the light switch, not smart enough to flip it. (But do I even have to? If the end result is the same?)) I don't know. Maybe I shouldn't attempt posts and thoughts like these while I'm drunk.

I guess, but color me a pessimist as I'm not entirely convinced these are intrusive, rather symptomatic.

Which is a reference to one of my favorite lines from Taxi Driver: "The headaches got worse... I think I got stomach cancer."

I really do think I might have dysthymia though.

You dudes will enjoy this. It's written and presented by the guy who created Black Mirror. It's a little heavy on British politics and TV, but you'll pick it up.

I wasn't going to watch this, but then I did.

49:45-52:00 was my favorite part. Something similar was making the rounds on the internet in 2003, but I was surprised at how carefully the clips in 2016 Wipe were picked.

wtf i just looked this up and i have all the symptoms

although i've fallen into several major depressions they dont last more than a week

Clocktopus

i'd prolly consider myself an existential nihilist too i guess

since i think after life is just nothingness, just like how i was before i was born, i don't really see the point in life since i'm just gonna forget everything after it anyway
