if you're just joining us here on page 5727, here is what I am currently having the correct opinion about:

important development:

dumb: I'm studying for a midterm in my network security class and I never, ever forget what a man-in-the-middle attack is because I immediately recognized it as the plot of that episode of Spongebob where Spongebob and Patrick are sending messages to each other in bubbles and Squidward uses his souffle fork to make evil bubbles that call them dumb

every time my instructor reminds us that MitM is an active attack I just zone out and my brain goes "Oh yeah? Well I think you're ugly! Yellow is ugly! *PBBBBBBBLLLLLLLLLLLLT* *...pblt*"

We on tomorrow night? I have to work a little later, perhaps followed by a quick suicide, I'll be ready around 10pm.

I heard boboobbobobobo was a stupid cartoon but I read one of the comic anthologies and loved that. Dunno if I'm just stupid and I'd love the anime, too, but just throwing it out there that they might be different animals

FLOUNDERMAN_CLOCK

It WAS stupid and they are and aren't the same animal at the same time. The dub is the same way. It's psychologically draining to read a lot of it at once but it's great reading it bit by bit. It's structured like a standard shonen battle series and then the "battles" are just a series of absurd sight gags and untranslatable puns.

That's about as coherent as the series gets

PhantomCatClock

The one I read actually had the issue with Yugi at the end, and a note saying that he just bumped into the original creator at a party and was like "HAHA WOULDN'T BE FUNNY IF—" and then the dude was all "hell yeah, bud, i'll draw that panel myself no worries" and i thought that was cool

the anthology with that was the only bobobo i read but man, what a read. Did the whole thing in one sitting because this was back when physical bookstores existed and you could read things and then not buy them like an asshole

VCRClock

sup ccbt i'm posting while reading "but is it... comic aht?" and it's pretty smart and i'm pretty dumb

sometimes i know who they're talking about, but i'm always totally useless when it comes to knowing anything about major publisher comics that weren't newspaper strips, and even my indie comics knowledge is patchy

i feel like i need a trip to a comic book store and/or an extra supplementary booklet to show me who everyone is

i kinda want to buy issues of bubbles too but I feel like I'm gonna fall into the same trap of not knowing what's what

when i'm reading about records and i don't know what's up, the common stuff is all streamable and the rare stuff is usually on youtube, unless it's both rare and not that good

with comics, maybe i just don't know where to look, or i don't want to stop reading what I'm reading to go read something else, but there's an article in here where it's like "the thing i'm writing about got reprinted once in a collection that is now rare and expensive on the secondhand market. of course that's easier than tracking down an original copy, a literal piece of paper all of which are now wedged between a comic book collector's asscrack and the couch." that's a lot of work to try to find something i might not like, and i'm assuming comics piracy sites are all covered in intrusive advertisements

maybe i'm just not hungry enough to do the legwork?

??

Is it that you can't find them easily or that you can't find a new title to seek out? If it's the former go here they have damn near everything. Often in absurdly high resolutions scans. Though sometimes they put up the omnibus sets and it's definitive but you want to find ONE story and it's impossible unless you read the whole damn thing. If it's the latter I have no idea, I just hear about stuff more or less randomly. It works but I always feel like there's some amazing series that's perfect for me specifically and I could find it if I just knew where or how to search for it.
