I have no idea why anybody thought getyarn.io was a good idea for a website but damned if I didn't just use it

Slurpee

youtube recommended me this and I almost didn't watch it because it doesn't look like my kind of thing at all but it was fun

Apparently I am not allowed in Denmark after word got out regarding my horrific and immoral experiments in creating a brickless Lego alternative

so that's nice to know if I continue on with this swedish thing. Won't be able to visit the mighty chunnel.

Slurpee

remember when legos got really weird and unappealing for no reason

PhantomCatClock

there goes slurpee, talking about legos again

man did you know the seethrough pieces in the ufo sets were called NEON TRANSCLEAR

ain't that some shit

I never liked bionicles personally but I believe they saved Lego from bankruptcy prior to the whole licensed sets revelation that means the only Legos you can buy now are the millennium falcon or whatever the fuck

k9

I never had bionicles, but me and my brother had alot of that "hero factory" stuff, which was essentially "bionicle 2" but without any of the lore world or magic that people liked about bionicle. I think they rebooted Bionicle in the early 2010s? I remember that, for some reason people rlly didn't like the reboot.

legos from the 2000s were always magical to me when I was younger, because I never had any sets that old, but I'd always find them in like my older cousins toybox or some shit, like one of those Exo force sets, and it BLEW MY MIND.  I'd always see them in books I had about lego when I was a little gai. Legos fun and all but goddammit its still so expensive.

I still rlly want to play Lego Island but I'm waiting until I eventually crack and by an old IBM thinkpad for the AESTHETICS lmao. A friend of mine actually has the disc for lego island too

speaking of AESTHETIC computing I'm writing this from Linux Mint, which I just installed. Not sure if I'll uninstall windows but I think mint looks SO much nicer than windows

I liked the first bionicle sets, and the bug robots they came out with for the second series. I loved the aesthetic of those masked robot skeleton dudes and I liked the bug things with their squishy parasite masks. literally everything else turned into whatever the hell slurpee posted. I remember the second set of the main dudes being a big downgrade and I stopped paying attention, but that thing is like beast machines combined with that pakistan sonic commercial without any of the soul of either.  I'll defend beast machines too. I still prefer the beast wars design style but I loved how weird and unique beast machines transformers were.

the one slurpee posted is from the 2010s reboot im p sure. I never hear anyone talk about hero factory lol. I actually listened to a rlly good podcast about bionicle once I'll link it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ql_3EF1mwEU

this is the font of all my bionicle knowledge lmao

funny, I just randomly came across these guys talking about the homestuck epilogue and I got curious enough to read the "meat" half of it even though I avoided it like poison originally.

I regret it. holy shit that was bad. well, 90% of it was anyways. I kept thinking it would at least lead somewhere but nope just a tie in to the literal fanfic sequel. the podcast is decent though. maybe I'll finally subject myself to bionicle lore.

probably wise to start with a distro like Mint so that it works naise 👌 looks naise 👌 and basic stuff doesn't break just because you updated / if something does break, your setup is probably pretty similar to someone else's

GNU/Linux, or as i've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux, is the custom rgb mechanical keyboard of operating systems; if you put enough into it, it can be gaudy af and nobody but you will understand what any of the buttons do. or how to fucking fix it when it breaks. the tradeoff is that not everything (software, peripherals...) works, and if it doesn't, it's on you to figure out how to make it work, or go without
<Marlin Clock> This thread seems proof positive that divisiveness at any level is usually bad for the Clock Crew.
<PhantomCatClock> are we talking about the same clock crew

PhantomCatClock

all i really remember about you is you said people use flash 8 for hipster cred, and now you are using mint for the aesthetic

so needless to say i wholly approve, try upgrading to zorin to get that mm mm windows aesthetic :chef_kiss::ok_hand:

Lol my brother installed mint for me, i didn't know alot about linux before he told me about it. I've always been fascinated by old operating systems to a pretty weird degree. it always confused me why I still used windows 10 even though I genuinely hated it, so me trying out linux was inevitable I think lul.

It can be pretty confusing initially. Installing waterfox was definitely a learning experience lol. I have a friend who wants to UNIRONICALLY install gentoo and I saw him last week try and plug a monitor in using a cable that had HDMI out and VGA out, by plugging the hdmi in one end the VGA in the other. Needless to say I think hes gonna brick his PC lmfao

lol did I say that? If so I've changed my mind alot since then, I have a 2004 ipod sitting beside me and I'm listening to jungle techno form 1996 rn. I MAY be a hipster

LMTYA is probably my favorite podcast ever. I randomly got recommended their "shutting down neopets" episode five years ago, and I've listened ever since. That was very early in the podcasts lifespan, and I've got to see it through to now. The podcast is still technically alive, but the cohost left last year, and I'd argue that it died long before that. The old episodes, especially the span from NOYZ BOYZ 2-3 and all the episodes in between is some of the comfiest shit ever, I couldn't recommend it enough.
